Hey gamers I'm well aware that this is a bit of a niche video, but I still wanted to document my experience as a guild master. I've been in trading guilds for a handful of years now, and I've also just recently started running one of my own! I've picked up quite a few pointers when it comes to running a guild on ESO that I thought I'd share. If you're a guild master or an aspiring guild master, maybe it can be of assistance to you. And if you're someone that is in a guild, or someone interested in joining one, perhaps this can give you a better understanding of all of the things that go on behind the scenes. Now you may better understand why your guild goes from trader to trader each week, or why it isn't entirely possible to be in a more ideal trading location. Of course, I am still in the beginning stages of my guild master career, I'm well aware that I have plenty more to learn and I'd love to continue to grow my guild to become a top tier trading guild one day! But even in this short span of time that I've spent managing a mid-tier trading guild, I've learned a lot, and I'd love to be able to share these findings. I hope you enjoy this rather niche video
I've always had an appreciation for the GM's and assistants that WEEKLY take the time to place bids and back up bids for the Trade Guilds I have been in on PC NA. However I never had the opportunity to "peak behind the curtain" and see what has to be done just to secure a trade location. Thanks for explaining this Arttea! Thank you to everyone that puts their time, effort, and gold to run and manage guilds in ESO. You all make the game that much better!!!
Same here! I have always had the utmost respect for people that have taken the time to run trading guilds, and man oh man I had no idea just how time-consuming it could be until I started running one myself! And I'm running a fairly lowkey one at that mind you, so I can only imagine how much time and dedication it would take to run some of the top trading guilds on the scene! I'd like to echo your sentiment: thank you to all of the guild staff that do so much to create such amazing communities for the ESO fam!
So THAT’s how it works! Thanks so much for explaining, and now I understand the barriers to entry for trading guilds. I had wondered how hard it would be for my little 50-person social guild to get a trader… uh, probably not in the cards, but that’s ok! Cheers!
Oof! Well, to be fair, out of our guild of around 270 people, about 100 of those people actually use the trader! On average, we get about 1-3million gold worth of sales tax from the sales alone (for reference). I think it's definitely doable to grab yourself a trader in a pretty out-of-the way location even with a small number of traders, so do not be discouraged! Something else that happens from time to time (well, on PC NA anyways) is that a trader will actually be unclaimed! This means that not a single person placed any bid for the trader at all. When this happens, the first person to bid ANY sum on that trader (at least 10k) automatically gets it! So it may be worthwhile to check out a bunch of unpopular zones right at trader flip (2pm ET on Tuesdays) and see if any guild traders say "" instead of some guild name - grab those up for your guild pronto! Haha, if you do decide to go forward with trying to grab a trader for your guild, I wish you the best of luck!
I'll never run a trading guild - or any kind of guild, probably - but your delivery is so entertaining that I consider the time it took to watch this video well spent.
Good vid, You are literally the only funny ESO content creator, there’s others that are also informative, but this is the only channel that’s actually entertaining.
This was really helpful! I'm currently starting up a casual RP/balanced guild with my sister, and someday I'd like to get a trader (just a small probably out-of-the-way one since trading isn't the main focus of the guild) but I never gave much thought to the bidding system so it was great to have such an easy-to-grasp explanation for how it works. I also really appreciate all the different methods you gave on how to raise funds for the trader. A very informative and entertaining video as usual!
Oh awesome! I think that grabbing a trader for a guild like that is definitely doable! As you said, it'll likely be in a location that is a little out-of-the-way, but I am sure that your guildies will appreciate it nonetheless! I wish you all the best with your new guild!
Once in awhile I like to take the time and travel around looking at traders that are off the beaten path trying to find good deals and helping out smaller guilds. 💲🤑🧐
Well done. You always make even seemingly complex issues like this one easier to understand. Now I need to figure out which of my trading guilds to leave so I can join yours.
I wish I found this video before making my trade/social guild. Was still helpful and or calming to hear similar experiences even if ive gone into it solo and completely of my own gold lol. (It hurts, but the guild members benefiting really does feel great. Its all worth it.) Main struggle is the one of consistent good trader locations without paying unsustainable amounts for a completely free guild. I am in Lucian Allegiance as well, very reliable good trader.
I was a guildmaster of a max size guild in ESO for some time. We had guild traders of course. But I was really hoping that Zenimax would eventually change the whole trading mechanic and remove the bidding for a guild trader. It's more complicated than it has to be, and I think most players will agree that it takes away from the game. It's so simple to just allow players to sell to everyone directly in an in-game market, so I don't know why they can't implement that. I mean why not just follow market systems in other games like WOW, FFXIV, etc. Then guilds can focus more on social, leveling, role playing, and other non economic activities.
This is such a great video. I’m a new student of the ESO economy and was fascinated by the back stage tour. In meatspace retail, the conventional wisdom for many years was that it was always better to overpay for a good location (because of the ability to ‘turn’ more than in a poor location). In the meatspace, e-commerce has been a modifying force, as TTC is on PC, but location is still important. I had no idea how the guilds got their locations, so this was fascinating.. I will not be starting a guild, ever, but will have a lot more appreciation for the folks who make them tick.
Well done @Arttea. A very insightful video. Having run a couple guilds in my ESO career, and failed each time, it would have been super helpful to have insights like this before making a rash decision.
Thank you! Ah, I had no idea that you had tried your hand at running an ESO guild before! It certainly is a very time-consuming job, and I had the advantage of already having an active community because of this channel and our discord server. I can only imagine how much more difficult it would be to have an engaged community when you have to start completely from scratch, or with far less people and resources. If you ever do decide to try to start up another guild of your own some day you should let me know - I'll do everything that I can to help!
@@Arttea Thank you 🙂 My son and I had a fairly good size community with a dedicated Discord server and pretty regular engagement at one point (no UA-cam or Twitch or the like). I am so interested in learning how to make lots of gold on ESO. My husband and I just started playing about a month ago and are already around cp 300 but we're old gamers (Im a grandma gamer lol) so eso wasnt that hard to get the gist of. We are looking for a guild though - a family we can play with since there is content we can't seem to duo. How do I/we apply to your guild?
So.... i'm looking to join a trading guild but have always been a little cautious about the "dues"... I don't have an opportunity to play a lot on a consistent basis.... a week might go by where I can only play for 3-4 hours in total. I totally dig the idea of social / trading guild, sounds exactly what I'm looking for. Will you accept people into the guild who are not only new to making gold but still kind of new to the game?
Yeah absolutely! There are actually a fair amount of these more lowkey trading guilds out there! They don’t have the best traders ofc, but they are very low maintenance and very relaxed when it comes to requirements! If you’d like to join, check out the discord server link (in my description) and assign yourself the “guildie” role in #role-assign. You’ll be able to view the #invite-pls channel, and then you can drop your in game name there! We do a lot of our announcements over discord, which is why it’s paramount to be in it, apologies for the seemingly long application process haha.
I would say so! This is why it definitely helps to have a community that is willing to chip in/initiatives that encourage your community members to chip in. Another possibility is if you already have a lot of gold yourself that you are willing to utilize for your guild.
with the new guild betting system of placing bets for 10 places, would be possible if you talked to like 10-20 diffents guilds and asked there bidding price on the guilds they lost or won could you come up with a rough average?
You definitely could, and a lot of guilds definitely have! At the same time, I can understand why some guilds are reluctant to share this information - a lot of times, guilds whose trader costs are “leaked” or given away tend to lose their trader. You definitely see this in the most elite trading spots. Safe to say, you probably should not try to bet on a trader from a guild that is helping you by offering information.
@@Arttea I get it that's it's a competitive market but it blows my mind the price guild pay for a spot. I cant understand how its sustainable since in one week you have to put another bid in. Is a guild really making millions in profit every week just to be able to spend it all for bids for a guild trader
@@sneakysquirrel1990 You'd be surprised! Sales taxes tend to make up a really small portion of gold, so a LOT of the funds for the bids come from player donations, raffles, and auctions. I get the impression that guilds aren't even really making much profit - all of this money goes directly back into placing bids to secure the trader. Honestly, it seems a little scummy if the guild master was profiting off a trading guild haha, I really don't think that that is a common occurrence. It is a fairly substantial gold sink since all of that gold is removed from the player economy every week! I suppose a more positive way to view it is that it can help combat inflation in the ESO economy haha
@@sneakysquirrel1990 Profit would imply how much you have after all expenses. Most guilds feel good about breaking even and maybe building a bit of a nest egg in case they have a bad donation week. I used to run a couple of trading guilds, one in a very busy location (Rawl when it was still the shit) and at that stage at least the fastest way to not ever get rich was to run one. You would be amazed at how much GM's donate to the guild without thinking about it (I know I supported the auctions for weeks after I took it over). People don't run guilds for the gold, they do it for the love of the game and to help others.
HAHA !! GOTCHA!! In the video you said " a friend" so it was all a ruse ,in fact you do have friends ,huh 😊 Do you still have your guild and do you take in new members ? You know people that DONT have friends but for REAL 😮 😅 Also i was GM for a guil in wow like 69years ago because our guild leader wanted to change the name of the guild and wanted to have a Wolf as a logo. Told him it was cringe( Kétaine) he got mad talked shit about me and ended up the rest of the guild agreed with me so he rage quitted and for some reasons i became the GM........
Pixel Pirates also have auctions , you can even bid for the likes of ,1 hour of time from the guild decorator to make your house pretty or 1 hour of running content or farming stuff for you ❤😊
Your discord channel is so confusing ,says to change display name to player name, but where? Plus you want my private phone {what qualifications do you have to guard my number} number in order to post there, why?
We do not take your private phone number. You need a verified phone number to speak to prevent botting attacks and harassment because our server is so popular. You can change your discord name by clicking on "edit server profile" (upon clicking on our server name).
@@rainerrain9689 yes, you need to have a verified phone linked to your discord account in order to fully access the server (a high level discord security feature). This minimizes the risk of bots and trolls harassing the server.
@@Arttea This must be a new requirement because I never had to give my number before and was able to chat ,but then again, I haven't used Discord in a long time. Thanks for your time ,appreciate it.
I see more guilds ripped apart because of the way this is designed, guilds should NEVER be built around the trade market. That should be a miniscule feature of a guild. Guilds need cohesiveness and bond players. This system does none of this. Tbh one of the worst guild structures in an mmorpg I have seen.
I’ve found that this isn’t really the case in ESO. A lot of trading guilds have a very prevalent social aspect to them, and as a result, have endured the test of time and continue to thrive to this day.

Link to their discord up above under video, click "show more" for links.
So.... i'm looking to join a trading guild but have always been a little cautious about the "dues"...
Hey arttea
Hello, gamer
Arttea securing her pups the good stuff.
GG
So, to start a trading guild, you need at least 40-100kk gold just to securely win a place at one of Tamriel's Outlaws Refuges...
I would say so! This is why it definitely helps to have a community that is willing to chip in/initiatives that encourage your community members to chip in. Another possibility is if you already have a lot of gold yourself that you are willing to utilize for your guild.
Gold Sink? The hell? That gold freakin adds up
Yeah, as in, this is a means for ZOS to implement a "gold sink" - a way to remove gold from the player economy to help combat inflation.
with the new guild betting system of placing bets for 10 places, would be possible if you talked to like 10-20 diffents guilds and asked there bidding price on the guilds they lost or won could you come up with a rough average?
*cough* how much are intricate items worth in the guild bank?
Queen Arttea 😍
What’s your guild? I’d like in
You have to BID to keep a trader spot?
All of a sudden, I think my trade spot is unpopular
I was starting to have withdrawals 🤣
Guild traders. The true pvp in eso. I need a trade guild. I'll send an application.
What do you play on?

Buying bitches??!? 😂😂😂😂😂👻👻👻👻 oh my gosh, I swear your humor is the best!!!!
HAHA !!
Pixel Pirates also have auctions , you can even bid for the likes of ,1 hour of time from the guild decorator to make your house pretty or 1 hour of running content or farming stuff for you ❤😊
Your voice is sooooo beautiful… I would like to join the guild though
not gonna lie i out junk in the guild bank and store just to mist around with my guildmates

Hello gamer gamer
Your discord channel is so confusing ,says to change display name to player name, but where? Plus you want my private phone {what qualifications do you have to guard my number} number in order to post there, why?
We do not take your private phone number. You need a verified phone number to speak to prevent botting attacks and harassment because our server is so popular. You can change your discord name by clicking on "edit server profile" (upon clicking on our server name).
@@Arttea Says you need my number to chat right where someone would enter chat {blocks chat string} ,not to speak which I'm aware needs number, thanks.
@@rainerrain9689 yes, you need to have a verified phone linked to your discord account in order to fully access the server (a high level discord security feature). This minimizes the risk of bots and trolls harassing the server.
@@Arttea
This must be a new requirement because I never had to give my number before and was able to chat ,but then again, I haven't used Discord in a long time. Thanks for your time ,appreciate it.
Lol join PS4 eu where the main City trader's run bots to hold the monopoly there

Haha funnily enough, I will be playing on EU for the next two weeks! For an upcoming video!!
@@Arttea Nice to hear that, lets kill some stuff togather xD
Not on xbox 🥲
LMAO "buying bitches at the RP taverns"
69... nice
Unsubscribed over your continued knocking of selling ERP as a sustainable business model.
Guild Master?.... sorry... Guild Master?
69 FUCK YEAH USA USA USA
I see more guilds ripped apart because of the way this is designed, guilds should NEVER be built around the trade market. That should be a miniscule feature of a guild. Guilds need cohesiveness and bond players. This system does none of this. Tbh one of the worst guild structures in an mmorpg I have seen.
I’ve found that this isn’t really the case in ESO. A lot of trading guilds have a very prevalent social aspect to them, and as a result, have endured the test of time and continue to thrive to this day.
Buying Bitches 🤣🤣🤣🤣
