Ground hunting has been the best and most effective and efficient way I've hunted and its a lost art and it actually get you into the root of hunting and woodsmanship...
@joneskost3096 always try to have good back cover such as a tree to sit against to break up your outline and always try have wind in your face to where u anticipate the deer to come from and try not to move , look with your eyes not your head , and try to stay as concealed and motionless as possible...
There seems to be confusion between stalking and ground hunting. Stalk hunting involves being on your feet and moving only three steps at a time, while very slowly scouting for deer coming into your field of vision. (Hopefully this happens before you come into their field of vision.) Ground hunting is sitting on the ground, with or without cover, and waiting for deer to come into firing range. I found it extremely helpful to make a simple bleating sound to draw deer to you. I am a 65 yr old great nana. I love to stalk and ground hunt. They are both difficult for me to do as I am getting older. I have been blessed to stalk a laying buck on a wet day with a slight breeze for cover sound. My husband field dresses our deer and we can, freeze and dehydrate our meat. Such a joy and a blessing!
I used to hunt from the ground all the time. I can hunt any wind to my advantage, rather than choosing stands based on the winds. I have been really successful doing that
I’ve always hunted on the ground I’ve been teaching my self to hunt the past 3 seasons. This season I’ve been in a stand but I think I’m going to go back to sitting on the ground with my little bleachers seat!
Half the time I’m in a climber and half on the ground depends on the area and my mood had 3 doe within 10yds today while sitting on the ground against a tree
