    I understand your fear od plugging device after replacing a fuse. Advice: always use a serial lamp. It will show you is there still any short circuit. If it shines permanently - there is short circuit, if it shines at a moment and after that becomes dark - there is no short any more. Thank you for all videos :)

    • @lordjaashin
      @lordjaashin 2 роки тому

      so just attach the two terminals of serial lamp on the two holders of fuse?

    • @bozidardjuran7961
      @bozidardjuran7961 2 роки тому

      @@lordjaashin Yes, you can do it just like that but I think that the easyies way is to replace fuse with a new one and than place serial lamp in serial with power supply. If lamp shines permanently with full power than short is still there, if not short is not present any more.

      Important detail: it has to be an old lamp, 60w/100w or higher. It does not work with leds

    As I'm seeing this I'm trying to repair an lg soundbar with a shorted capacitor that blew an smd fuse. Without the cap I now have 24.4v. No other cap in pararel. No schematic. This should be fun...

  • @johnathanasiou9284
    @johnathanasiou9284 3 роки тому

    It's likely the small blue cap was either a MOV or a snubber cap which had sacrificed itself due to a high voltage spike.
    From the damage to it, it looks like a classic MOV failure.
    Sorin, would love if you could do a quick intro video of your colleagues, unless they don't like fame

    Sorine, eu cred ca un meserias serios care lucreaza la un service care se respecta pune piese noi, nu recuperate. Nici lita pusa in locul sigurantei fuzibile nu mi se pare o solutie laudabila... Chiar daca uneori piesele noi pot fi mai proaste decat cele recuperate, exista si piese de calitate, la un pret corespunzator. Probabil ca teoria meseriasului e ca oricum se repara un aparat care are o vechime si n-are rost sa se bage bani in piese noi, i se mai prelungeste viata si cu piese vechi... Succes!

    That capacitor die from transient voltage. That capacitor is use to protect the circuit infront of it, by sending the transient voltage to the ground and blowing the fuse. The problem is the capacitor current rating is to close to the fuse value, that why both of them die in the same time. While manufacturer intended to let the fuse to blown when transient voltage occurs. I suppose they never truly testing they TVS circuit.🤔

    I'm curious about why that capacitor died though.
    [Edit: My uneducated guess would be either a manufacturing flaw in the capacitor, or a spike on the mains supply. Wouldn't anything else suggest further faults on the board?]

    • @eugrafcmg
      @eugrafcmg 3 роки тому +2

      I've seen some data sheet for capacitors that has a limited lifespan. This makes perfect component for manufacturing programmed obsolescence, also explains why lots of electronics dies short after warranty expires. I might be wrong...maybe master Sorin will make some light...

    • @protonx80
      @protonx80 3 роки тому +3
