I used to watch your videos because I wanted to repair something. Now I'm watching your videos because of entertainment and there are a lot of things to learn from you. Thanks Sorin, keep this YT channel up ;)
Great video. In my HVAC business we see this kind of problem a lot. Insects get into the cases of outdoor refrigeration compression units when the weather gets cold, and they congregate in between the contacts of three phase contactor switches because of the heat coming from contactor coils. I’ve seen bugs take down 10 horsepower walk in coolers with $8000 worth of food in them...
I could a frog (quite dead) had shorted the defrost control board in a unitary heat pump. It was a quick diagnoses.👍
WOOOHOOOO I am happy to hear you are taking steps to improve your health. You are important to so many people and you give your time and knowledge. Thank you Sorin.
The internal fuse is a T5.0A. The "T" means time delay. In other words slow blow.
From memory T stands for Traeg which I believe is German for delay or similar.
Swecheck had a fantastic booklet on fuse types years ago
The fuse on the board doesn’t really matter, since the short was before it. That’s why it didn’t blow…
That the internal fuses didn't blow, but the mains plug fuse did can be described perfectly by kirchoff's current laws as demonstrated in this case by the very low Rl being the cockroach itself being closest to the 220v mains supply
26:33 nice smoke :)
Hi Sorin. Greetings from Australia. Great video as usual :-}. Now, when you connect the light bulb(s) in series with your device, in case of a short, you limit the current to the device. Say, with a 100W bulb you get the current limited to 430mA @230V. So you can test your board WITHOUT blowing your fuses, and something actually might get hot. Of course, if you want higher current, use more bulbs - a total of 230W for 1A or 460W for 2A and so on. I have built my AC current limiter out of 4 bulbs, that I can individually turn ON or OFF each, giving me more flexibility without changing the bulbs for the different power. I am sure you knew this - just wanted to explain for other people watching and wanting to learn something :) Regards, Jerry.
Sorin... thank you... thanks to you..., because you're a good person... God bless you Sorin...
You released the 'Magic Smoke' Sorin! LMAO!!!!!! That was GREAT!
After you checked All electronic communications that was fine ,From my own personal experience, I immediately guessed that there was a problem with the power socket.
Sorin , you do give back by sharing your knowledge & videos .
Many years ago I used repair the B&O Avant floor standing tv, on more than one occasion I would find mice living inside and causing all sorts of problems.
Nice repair video
Sorin likes the smell of that magic smoke, it's very good.
Just solder the wire on the board and done.
You forgot the hot glue ! 😁
Aqui no Brasil nós chamamos isso de gambiarra! Parabéns pelo trabalho e iniciativa!
nasty bit of tracking there sorin ! ive had boards do that as well ! its like they wanted to make their own pcb tracks ! lol.
Sorin if you want to easy open laptop charger use car petrol from gas station, just put some on the joint and couple minutes later it can be opened by hand.
Sorin You Give Yes " Free Good Knowledge "
Brown to green, green to blue, and blue to bits 💥
sorin is an expert, but im wondering how he didnt knew untill now that brown is live?Maybe he forgot....I cant accept that he didnt saw untill now that... Anyway is a pleasure and satisfying thing to watch sorin's videos.
Sorin your knowledge is priceless my friend.
I agree with Loizos, use a variac and monitor current/voltage... I couldn't live without mine....
Properly Calibrated Cockroach expertly despatched by our master, Sorin!
I picked that one - lol -. When there was no short on the PCB, I figured it had to be between the lead and the PCB.
use variac (variable transformer) to inject AC voltage slowly
Agreed, because nobody knows the exact voltage to get a nice sear on a grilled cockroach.
Really great you are chosing a good diet! I recommend keeping carbs low in general. I skip breakfast since months and feel great! plan my carbs a bit with training. That's my other recommendation: make sure to work out at least twice a week - you will feel great. Thanks for all the videos, I learned a lot, hope you will live long and happy :)! cheers
Great ! Love Television Power Supplies
I am truly shocked that you wasted your time with that port, instead of just soldering the cable directly.
Commenting in @2:31 before finishing the video:
First off, I'm glad that you're trying to lead a healthier lifestyle! Hope you're still being super conscious about the amount of sugar you intake daily. On another note, I think it would be more professional to actually include the name of whoever's channel it is that you are including in your video for others to see :)
Nothing but respect and admiration to you though, Sorin. Thank you for re-igniting my desire to work on hardware repairs!
My current Samsung TV has some of the worst backlight bleed I've ever seen from any TV. I don't think i'll be buying Samsung going forward if this is the quality of panels they are using.
I got an LG 4k one with a bug... literally! I can see it in the screen if I am close to it, it looks like a mosquito , doesnt seem to affect the tv and has been like it 5 years
OMG You had me dying laughing here. Your reaction was amazing when you saw the smoke coming... Thank u Sorin!
I hate cockroach infestation. It always comes back after 3 months
That must have really stunk when you cooked that bug!
Once I absolutely could not find a short that was blowing fuse. I put in a larger fuse and watched for a pop or pillar of smoke. This led me directly to a shorted transistor. Luckily the board wasn’t damaged in the process. Replaced the transistor, put back in the proper fuse, problem solved. I highly DO NOT recommend this troubleshooting method, for it could create unrepairable board damage, eyeball damage, or even catch your place on fire! I now use a variable voltage ac transformer 0-130V ac “in America” and use a 500W photoflood bulb in series with my hot wire wire on my power cord using a flange base bulb socket and a junction box wired up with with a male plug on one end, and a female ac receptacle on the out side of the bulb which I plug my device under test into. Only the hot wire travels through the incandescent bulb filament, the white common and ground just goes around the bulb without any connection. The bulb filament on the hot in series acts just like an inline fuse to lower the current if there is a short in the circuit. The brighter the bulb, the more direct of a short in the device under test. I can test pretty large amps with a 500w bulb, if no short it passed enough current/voltage to actually let the device under test operate normally if the bulb isn’t glowing.
After blowing two of your power cords but not blowing the board fuse you didn't think it could be the mains socket, that's about the only thing it could be! :) :) :)
Had a HP printer whit bug colony in power suplly, nice and warm.
Been a paradise for them, until one touched the mains mosfet and got waporised.
Customer brought it to our service, it was a comedy when i got it opend.
"Cockroach releases blue smoke".
34:30 - I'd put it in a bench vise to pop apart the two halves of a power brick using a flat screw driver as extra persuasion.
Sorin typically tells what the part was blown from the smell of it, this time he was clueless because it was a new smell :) next time he will say "that smells like a cockroach!"
No light bulb for testing? How about a good old neon ? Remember those, small compact and now almost obsolete because of LED's. Keep one in your tool kit, maybe.
27:01 magic smoke ;)
WE love you mate, love what your doing in the way your doing it. I even love that you are "russian", i love russian people.
Im watching EVERY video of yours. Greetings from Greece!
Dude, he's not russian. Where did you get that idea? He is Romanian
I love power supplies
I hate power supplies 😓😅
I have a 65 inch LG hanging on the wall for 2yrs. Then one day the thing jsut stops working. After seeing this I say to myself eureka! I bet one of the inputs shorted out due to the bent wires against the wall. The thing is so heavy I have not pulled it off the wall because I am old now and it is heavy. So I guess I have to pull it off the wall. LOL
LMAO Do as I say, not as I do. You are so great, Sorin. Love you.
Great work !!! Please be careful, use protective glasses
Sorin, a very good choice to remove the rubbish food, it was a worry watching you in the garden having problems breathing. :-(
And the t.v set, i have never seen a socket do that before, madness lol.
The plug looks non polarised, so it does not matter the way it goes in.
Mains goes through the bridge rectifier anyway, so it does not matter at all.
I have never seen a cockroach in the uk, maybe the set was made in malaysia?.
His TV was "bugged" lol
Why not use a variac power transformer to tested it with.
How about a short to the chassis of the TV. That would only show up when the board is installed. You mentioned that the mounting and board are flimsy. Maybe something is making contact only when the board is installed. (watching @ 20min now. Maybe that'll be what you find.)
Use a current limiter ( 100 watt)
Ar fi frumos sa mai vorbiti din cand in cand si Romaneste ,eu ca roman si poate alti cativa zeci sau sute va urmareste, asa cand sa poate :)
Good job sorin...but you need 1 dremel that littel machine is very good to small work in plast..but you know self..
you should get an adjustable transformer with current limitation.
XAXAXAXX My microwave was killed by cockroaches.
Yup - I ran into that chassis and watched that exact video you showed :)) I actually broke the bezel in one place because I didn't know how I should do it, but thankfully the screen survived....WTF Samsung ??? :|
Thanks
Thank you so much for your video Master Idol.
What i do is to get rid of the socket en solder the power plug directly to the board.Call customer first
You have yet build Sorin long cable with switch at other end so you are far away from boom radius? :)
some times the zinner diod will let the voltage run both ways
Sir can you teach us more about smps that have smd components below the smps board, thank you
You killed the bug 🐜 3 times 😬😂
Always learn this canel
heater wired in parallel not series - yes ??
Interesting content but too much dead space. Recommend editing out all the time when you are thinking or have walked away to find something
Sorin doing repairs: "Let me break it".
lol
The famous bug !
Sorin you are very entertaining! You say you want to be healthy- give up sugar and junk food but still smoking like a dragon. Comon -if you are to be really healthy give up all your bad habits especially eating meat. Then we can believe you are sincere.
T5A is not the same as F5A ;)
F = working fast
T=working slowly
Cockroach=working slowly T6A
Hey bro. i have a question. I have a hp 2570p i5. Last month it stopped
working without any reason (maybe because of power problem of home). I
changed Ram, Hd and CPU, but doesn't work. Just fan work for some
seconds and again off (repeat repeat ...). Just one time turned on for
30min I updated bios and installed new windows, off again and again fan
on off ..... . What's your idea? If I take a new Motherboard will work
again??? Thanks
Quick tip for Sorin: ua-cam.com/video/4T2pD7LhmSw/v-deo.html
Quick Tip: How to Tell if a Cell Phone is Turning On or Turning Off without a Charging Cable
Thank you, actually it is a very good tip, all switching power supplies switching frequency are in AM range! GG!
Why, then, are there few if any TV repair shops if it is this fast and easy???????
Nice work👍👍
that cockroach he go Booooom 🔥 🤣🤣tell the customer sorry
Not even Sorin can fix that cockroach he's dead 🤣🤣
By using a 2kW heater, you're limiting the current enough for your circuit breaker to not blow, but that's about it. Perhaps there's value to that in this case as to not shut down your live stream, but we shouldn't let the watchers think it does much more than this as a light bulb would have done.
A poor quality mains socket to match the rest of the board. Good quality sockets use plastics such as Alkyds which resist tracking.
That was a Buggy TV...
Nothing like a little burned roach in the morning with your coffee 😂
Very informative but I find them too long. Maybe publish start 'time' where the 'guts' of the video starts.
Maybe some juicy spider was looking for hideout :D
Anyway fingers cross that you stay away from sugar and rubbish food!
Maybe a pencil line
We Need More Amps..T-shirt..lol
oh hell yeah, that's a good idea :D
great job short before the fuss
Is it possible to use isolation tester to test the coil of the transformer for shorts.
Its high frequency transformer, not 220V. It not eficient at 50/60Hz.
There are testers for this type of transformers
Hold on a second, I need to break this power supply apart to use the socket. That plastic chip would have pierced your eye had it been a couple inches higher just like in Ukraine with the shelling.
Would the color of the cable connector cables matter? Isn't it ac power? Just asking because you can plug the cable any way you want on the tv connector and also to the wall outlet and it still will work
yeah, stoopid design. it should not be like that for safety reasons. works anyway tho
No, because the 2 pin connector is only permitted on double-insulated equipment with no earth (ground) connection required.
@@cambridgemart2075 correct me if i'm wrong but I don't think is the same to put a fuse on the live or on the neutral
@@chainbreaker When there is no earth / ground reference, it doesn't matter which line is fused. The only difference between live /hot and neutral is that neutral is near ground / earth potential.
transistor ????
Sorin for the love of all that is holly ! get a piece of sand paper lad :)) you can do wonders with sand paper and it makes "trimming" a lot faster and a lot easyer !
Common issue. Plenty of tvs, Playstations (big problem for them) and other electronics - death by roach.
the trick to open them sealed power supplys is lighter flued it brakes glue down
De-bugging ???
To make the TV lighter & more money 😂
High tech bug zapper.
I'm 16 mins in, why are you not checking Y capacitors for short???? Also later you dropped your ear piece in the flux, be careful you don't want to get an ear influxion
good healthy choice, we need Sorin for many more years! educate yourself on food, you won't believe how many foods are commonly considered healthy and are not!! dr ekberg channel is a good one
Thats literally the most unexpected thing i saw... a cockroach carbon tracing lol
lmao, that tv had a bug haha physcal bug
hahahaha i think no body to re-use any part and using imaging modified to finish the job (repair)....sometime must change to a new part...sometime reuse from another ...like a donations...what abaut any tech outside there?
Well, i think that you missed an step on the diagnoze of this TV .After 2 power cables blowed off......the logic next thing to check IS , the conecter , right ? First .
If, you, sir wanted to make a long storry from this video i can understand . But what if it was an charger cable of a tablet or somethig else on lower voltage ?
Higther voltage is unforgiving instantenly.
Be aware , there are young ones that are wacthing you video ....safety first .You get the picture .
Sorry for this.
I mean, it's easy to say "the logic is... this" after you see what the problem was. In reality, how many appliances have you ever encountered in your whole life where the short was caused by a bug. Truthfully it's probably the last thing you'd ever check for.
