If they are revisiting the original game, this would have been a great opportunity to fix the fact that being the king of the hill in a game that is ostensibly about that just isn't that great. Going into Tokyo is usually something players try to avoid. Change the numbers to the building icons from KoNY, and make them only score points when you're in Tokyo. Sitting around rolling numbers and not fighting really highlights the Yahtzee roots of the game.
Personally me and my brother like to play with no star points we find it more fun to just try defeat each other as wining by star points was to easy

With fewer players being in Tokyo is worth it I think, since you keep getting points being there. But if there's 5-6 players you could die fast.
