Thanks for making these videos and taking us along for the ride through Area X. I know we’re almost done (the original trilogy), but I confess that if it were not for your videos and read-along i probably wouldn’t have made it this far. After loving Annihilation, i was a bit less thrilled by Authority, but by Acceptance i feel like i have been mostly derailed from the story (i realize that i may not have been reading with the degree of concentration that these books require). The time shifts, shifts in voice between 1st, 2nd, 3rd person, the swapping between very ordinary first names and somewhat ill-fitting monikers, and mostly the way it’s difficult for me to tell whether a crazy phantasmagorical description is actual/literal, or just how someone is perceiving something, I have been shaken off like a first-time bronco rider. Anyway, the enthusiasm that you express in your videos is enough to help carry me to the end of this book (I’m with you that far). I think this series will need to get back in line at the end of my TBR for a reread before i will fully appreciate it the way you do.
Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad these videos have helped you continue. Authority is a big shift, and it's my least favorite of the three, so I can understand how it might make someone stop. But yeah it all comes together in Acceptance. I actually just finished the book so will be making the video soon. It was good being away from it for so long. It was almost like experiencing it all over again. It still hits just as hard, though I know the ending won't be for everyone. Thanks for watching!
