In this free video drum lesson, I want to teach you how to play the drums in the time signature of 12/8.
In this lesson I break down the basic pattern of 12/8, and then show you how to play three super easy beginner drum beats that will help you establish this time signature. I also combine the three examples at the end of the video showing you how these ideas can be combined to create musical parts. Playing in 12/8 can help you play in any triplet based drumming style and so is essential in order to take your drumming to the next level!

For Example 1, I say that both halves of the bar are the same...they are not. My point was that any bar of 12/8 could be written as two bars of 6/8, so please do not be confused by that. It's just a counting and notation thing. Whether played as one bar of 12/8 or split into two bars of 6/8, the drum part would sound exactly the same.
