i might get this game after my ps3 gets fixed because ps2 games work on ps3

Well, not all of them.
Certain launch models had PS2 hardware in them, some relied on software-based emulation, but then PS2 backwards compatibility was removed entirely (outside of PS2 Classics on the PS Store) to cut costs when they introduced the slim models.

It should if you have a PS3 that can play PS2 discs.
If you have a Slim or Super Slim model, then it can't.
