Thanks a lot Rob, it's funny how 2 fields next to each other can be so different as far as the finds go, you never can tell how a hunt might tutn out. Cheers and all the best :)
Thanks John, I was thinking of going again today, but I think I'll wait until Monday when it'll be a bit cooler. That and the fact that I've no energy left. ;)
I was extremely lucky buddy, very unexpected to find those lovely items. Hopefully something else equally as interesting will appear soo. Thanks buddy ;)
Cheers mate, yes I really wasn't expecting anything like those finds to appear! I hope I don't have to wait for too long before I can get on it again. :)
Hi Keith, I'm so glad that I scouted out that field, the one at the other side of it (that I walked through) didn't really give any good indications at all. :)
Brilliant stuff Andy. You've some amazing land below your feet. It just makes you wonder what can't be reached deeper down. We'll probably never know. Supposing detectors could go to much greater depths, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be shovelling for it 🤪
Hi Del, that's a good point about the depth! That field, along with the earlier one where I found the Roman silver coins are both very rocky, I'm sure the rocks etc help to prevent the old finds sinking too deep?
Hi Ben, I reckon you're right buddy. Finding the Roman stuff was fantastic in itself, bt now having found Anglo Saxon too, there has to have been plenty of activity as you've said. Fingers crossed :)
Cheers Tom, I know that I've been so lucky with this permission, but I don't take anything for granted with metal detecting. It could all change as quick as a flash. I'm trying to get on as many fields as i can at the moment before they all get drilled etc. The field that I mention in the video, well I have 30 mins going over it and I didn't manage to find anything old. Maybe next time :)
@@tomt1t That really sucks mate, sorry to hear that! I gained one permission at the back end of last year and it's a few thousand acres in size, the problem is that all the large fields have been done to death by the MD clubs and the fields were barren apart from bits of dropped foil. There are a couple of small grass fields that haven't been touched, but the finds tends to be post-medieval from those.
Hi Andy , some good finds there mate cracking bit of land and a good selection to , just hope you can get back on the field must be some more good stuff , good video mate enjoyed it ATB Rob .
What a great field--- Roman finds --- as you know, we Americans think anything from the 1800's is old, so to see Roman pins and coins is glorious to see!
Hi Northerner in NC, we're very lucky in some respects, we live on a small island and many feet have walked over the land over the years. We never know what's going to turn up the next time. All the very best. :)
Hi Andy, keep up the good work. The large square piece: I think I saw something like that on an episode of Time Team. It was recessed into a stone floor lintel as a bearing for part of a door hinge or something. Just a possibility.
Hi Carl, thanks very much for your kind words and also the info re the bronze find, that's the kind of usage that I imagined! I'll have to keep an eye out when I next watch the time team episodes. 👍
Corking looking pendant thingy Andy....very nice Looks like you found a keyhole cover too, not sure of the correct terminology lol Amazing that you have over 200 years in date range for your Romans, that shows some serious occupation in that area fella, great field for sure Keep it up and look forward to the next installment
What a veritable bounty of finds Andy! That field's treating you well and will continue to do so I suspect. Lovely romans and you've got to be happy with your anglo-saxon! Great stuff 👍🏻😁
Hi Mike, I'm over the moon with the Anglo Saxon buddy, it's a rare find for me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I might just find saxon silver one day! I live in hope :) All the best buddy and thanks very much.
@@TerraBritannia Cheers Andy 👍🏻 House move over so we're off to a permission tomorrow, a field with a roman road going through it. Found a wode grinder on the adjacent field so fingers crossed we find something of similar fascination to your recent gems! Good luck on your next dig 🤞🏻😁
Hi Colin, I think it's a very useful coil for those big fields, good ground coverage saves time. I shortened the stem by 1 notch, the coil is a bit heavier to swing. The only downside is that sometimes you might get 2 targets under the coil at the same time, so it pays to move around the signal and check. I'd say go for it.👍
Second thoughts it is a brooch...I generally watch ur vids...keep up the interest, I've been doing it over 35 yrs down here in Kent and found most things...it's definitely a passion! Cheers Steve

Cheers Jeff, it doesn't often happen like this buddy. I normally find the usual bits and pieces, but I'm having a lucky spell at the moment. :)
Wow, that saxon is awesome. Bucket lister for me without question. Great hunt. 👍👏
Thanks Grif, I wasn't expecting that one buddy :)
Blimey, Andy, you wouldn't be able to drag me off that field! Fabulous finds and look forward to seeing more.

Great video mate, some nice finds. What do you think of the larger coil compared to the standard 11" coil. Do you think it is worth getting. 👍

wow i don't find things like that in New Jersey
Thankd Den, to be fair, it's not often that I find those kind of items too. :)
That one item looks like a lock hole cover off a padlock
Hi Stephen, yes I think it has to be one of those. Cheers :)
I think the tiny square(ish) item might be an apothecary weight.
Thanks a lot buddy :)
And another Roman seal box lid...
