In an earlier video I'd put an Enduristan Fender Pack on the front mudguard of my CRF300 Rally. On the first rocky trail, it came loose too quickly, so to have an alternative place to store things, I have purchased an Enduristan Sandstorm 4X tank bag.
This video gives you a close look at the Sandstorm 4X and also how I fitted it to my Honda CRF300 Rally. The frame and crown mounts are the same as CRF300L, though the fuel tank and fairing are different, so though much of this applies, the final position will be slightly different on the L.

Nice trick with the stickers protecting the paint! I normally just stick them to my tool box in the garage but this is a much better idea
I was hoping some plastic ones would be out by now, but I think there’s only some acerbis ones for a kings ransom. The stickers will do me for now. And they were “Free” with any Enduristan purchase.

Thanks. They came with the the luggage, and though I'm not generally one for putting stickers on a bike, I'm sort of expecting the CRF300 to get a bit beaten up, so anything to preserve the paint a little is probably a good thing.
I wanted a bit more space so chanced getting the Sandstorm 4 H. I was worried it looked way too big out of the box but am very happy with how it sits on the bike. No interruption to steering or view of controls. It can get a bit 'close' when standing offroad but not in any way that impedes progress. Great quality bags.
Aye, it's a shame that there isn't just a little more room in the 4X. I'd quite like to be able to fit my camera in it (a Canon EOS M5) so I don't have to get off the bike, but it doesn't quite have the space. Good to hear that the 4H is a decent option too. 👍
Ha ha. It’s like you’re trying out the bike and all the equipment I want for me. If you could also mow my lawn and walk my dog, that would be great.
🤣 the long gaps between videos at the moment are partly due to end of lockdown, but also to lawn mowing (it is more fun on a Husqvarna 500cc ride on, but still takes time) and dog walking two black labs. If I get mine done, and get up to date on my videos, I’ll be right round! 🥳

That’s actually a very handy tank bag that you can leave on for everyday riding, and still remove it easily to take inside for security.
The map pocket on the top of the bag is emblazoned with the company logo, obscuring a good portion of the plastic ‘window’.

Aye, even for the less than average! I include myself in that group. It is easy to take on and off and the bits that stay on the bike don’t get in the way. It does appear to be waterproof too which is nice. I’ve taken the phone/map pocket off mine as I mainly use my satnav on the bracket and keep my phone in my pocket.
I’m just back from the trails and we’ve had sun, snow and rain today and it’s bone dry in the bag which is nice!

I guess those clear plastic map pockets on top of tank bags are obsolete now, in the era of smart phones and gps navigation devices.
@@0HARE they are, though I think I’d be happier with my phone in there than on the quad lock on the handlebars when riding rocky trails… I still have my sat Nav mounted high up, but yes, as a map pocket, it is somewhat old school. It might be useful for toll road tickets.
Don’t underestimate the usefulness of a paper map especially on long distance / overlanding trips. Much easier to ask a passer by where you are with one than a phone/gps, especially in a foreign language. Also phones/gps take you to your destination along an algorithmically determined route. Some of the most epic rides I’ve had / sites I’ve seen have been adjacent to the route the gps was actually showing.
@@alanthomas3236 absolutely. There’s also something nice about route planning on a paper map where you can see it all. They do have their downsides for detail though, and you can spend a lot if you’re travelling long distances. There’s also plenty of places where decent electronic maps are hard to come by and offline maps don’t work. I was in Oman a few years ago and heading up into the mountains, paper was the best and only option.
One thing I noticed when taking the lower panel completely off for the first time is that the two rear most bolts have tiny rubber washers between the plastic and the frame - very easy to loose if you don’t realise they’re there, then the panel won’t tighten properly (I’m speaking from experience...😉)
The battery cover on my GS is the same. If you don’t refit the panel with the plastic ‘point’ dead centre, it pushes it out, then rattles until you can get a new one. Also from experience 🤣
Ignore that, I know the washers you mean; apologies and yes I had to put them back where the came from. Thankfully they all came off with the bolts.
Hi, Did you change the bar risers to Apico? from the SW Motech you originally installed.
I did. I thought I’d try 20mm rather than 50mm. 30-40 would be ideal for me but they don’t appear to exist as conversion risers. I would say that the build quality and the bolts in particular on the Apico risers is not great. They are half the price of the Protapers for a reason. I have them now, but with hindsight would have paid the extra.
Waterproof my ass. I rinsed my 4x tank bag under a light spray in my sink before returning it to adv depot since it got dusty after two rides. After 30 seconds it had a tablespoon of water in it. Imagine if I had my cell phone inside. I was returning it since the stitching pulled out due to it being second rate quality. Adv depot only refunded my sales tax since they say it can't be returned if opened. How can you tell it's not waterproof if you can't use it? ? Amazon had to step in to get my refund. Full disclosure I forgot to send back one of the straps which I have since mailed back. It was not abused ,it was just falling apart. I have since purchased a Mosko moto bag which appears to be twice the quality and has a zipper that doesn't require you grease it regularly. it also has a better inside ridge to help keep water out. It was also 30. cheaper.
Wow. Sounds like a terrible experience. I have quite a lot of Enduristan stuff. A lot has ‘roll top’ closures and that has all stayed waterproof so far. I have 2 with zips, the 4X and a 15L backpack. So far both have stayed dry. As for returns, I’ve not had any failures on my own gear, but I’ve had one person return a set of Blizzard panniers which Enduristan replaced immediately under warranty. I’ll see if I can find some wetter weather (can’t be hard in the UK 🤣) to see if I can make it leak. I’ll update this post if I can. Thanks for the info.

@@PeakMotorcycles what I meant was, it doesn't look good, I'm sure it's pretty handy but the tank is too small at the top to carry a tank bag.
Gets the job done I guess.
