I’ve just ordered the insect netting And yes I too am in TX It gets so hot even with fans I’m considering using insect netting on the end caps any feedback ?
I did the same thing but it is a calculated risk in that you do have an increased risk of interior wind exposure if you cannot rapidly seal the ends before a storm. The inside pressure can be quite destructive. Consider a louvered shutter or passive vent at the top of the arch to dump the hot air and draw in fresh air. A little. Hard to quantify exactly how much But the benefits for exceed the drawbacks especially considering the ventilation across the entire length of the hoop house.
Do rodents chew through this netting? We have squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits we're wanting to keep out of our growing space. I'm sure curious raccoons will stroll by as well.
I have been to farms where rodents chew through plywood. The insect screen works better than perfect to do the job it was designed for but sometimes mother natures rodents can choose to pester a food source so other deterrents may be needed.
