I booked a consultation, it was a really good experience. I showed up well researched and had my top 3 picked out but my advisor was able to give me some great inside knowledge. “Hey, that one just got recalled so if you really like it, you might want to wait.” and “That one reviews really well but we get a lot of returns for these 3 reasons.”
We had a drunk driver hit us head on doing over 60 mph, then 3 months later had a full size moving van rear end our vehicle doing 50+ mph (yes, it was the replacement from the first accident), and both times our children (6-9 months, 2 and 4) came out without a scratch thanks to our Chevrolet Traverses and Diono carseats. We still drive a Traverse and have continued using only Diono seats.
Can we just appreciate Magic Beans and Elliot for coming through with this in-depth video!! I have the nuna relx base with the pipa rx .. now I’m torn on which convertible car seat to get!! Ah! They are all worth their features!
I'd like to see a video on actual safety performances in a collision. Something like car collision grades. From one source I read, the nuna pipa isn't the best performing (70ish/100). Chicco and peg perego received a top grades (90ish/100).
I always look on the german page "adac" they do tests with several real cars and crashes and then grade them on safety, comfort, material and other factors, it's really neat! That's how we chose our Cybex Cloud Z! It hat a 1,6! (A)
Graco 4Ever is the best it goes from newborn to 120lbs booster.. rear fasting until 40 lbs and can be used with isofix and seatbelts. plus it is super sturdy
Only rear facing to 40lbs though minimum weight to stop rearfacing safely would be 55lbs when the skeleton is fully formed and can survive a crash forward facing
We’ve been rocking the cybex since our first baby and even though it’s a bit heavy the Crossfitt classes have come in handy. Lol! Wouldn’t trade it for the world! Your awesome!
Hey Eli and Magic Beans! I've been OBSESSED with your videos for years, you helped me get prepared for parenthood and I am forever grateful for your knowledge. We got a Graco and man it sucks😂. I wish I had checked it before the week Were expecting. The base was easy to get tight but man its hard to click in and out. I am a certified installer and I hate it😂
Can you please make a video for convertible car seats for babies 6M+ ? My baby suffers from reflux issues and hates these buckets car seats. Regret buying the infant car seat since he doesn’t sleep in the car seat anyways.
LATCH systems are in cars newer than around 2002. New car seats do not come with locking clips that I was told was needed to use when installing a car seat with a seat belt (no LATCH).
with these you don't need the clip. The compartment that closes over the seatbelt is the locking mechanism. You only need a locking clip for car seats that do not have those compartments.
I wish you gave perspective on how much room was left in rear facing reclined position. Like if you had a font seat there also to show how much room these seats actually take up. That would be amazing. But I do like and appreciate your videos.
Well, what I mean is perhaps let us know more about the dimensions of these seats. Like in the rear facing fully reclined mode. How many inches deep does that make the seat ? I could see information like that helping a lot of people.
I have a 5 yr old who is 42 lbs where would her legs go if she's rear facing? The seat touches to back rest part of the seat. That's what she and I are basically asking. How does any child that is 2 or older read sit with no leg room?
@@beckyarzola5389 In a lot of states rear facing till 2 is the LAW. I had a bit of the same concern but my 18 month old is extremely happy rear facing as far as leg room goes. Once they get long enough , they just cross their legs like a pretzel. They are quite comfortable actually. My 7 year old has her legs folded and crossed forwards all the time. But yes, one might get the desire to stretch out. Rear, forward.... It's up to you if the state allows it.
I saw some comments about the Doona mentioning it’s not safe to keep the baby in a car seat for a long time…..but does it matter if the child spends 45 min in the seat on the drive to their grandparents vs 45 minutes that’s a combo of driving to the drugstore to pick up an item and coming home? I’m in Canada so this car seat option is not available to me, but I live somewhere where nothing i need is walkable but only a 10 minute drive away at the most. Seems like it would be really convenient for parents who just need to make short trips!
I agree, the Doona seems like a great option when you need to rush in for quick errands and don't want to unload a stroller/carrier (especially in winter!). But I've read that the Doona isn't available in Canada because it hasn't passed Canadian safety ratings for crashes either.

The Cybex Sirona S is my next choice as well. I currently have the Nuna Pipa RX. I really wanted to stay in the Nuna line since we also have the Nuna Triv, but none of their convertible carseats have the load leg.
That was one of the main reasons we picked it. The 360° rotation is also a great feature, we love it so much that we will be purchasing another one for baby 2

What your not showing in this video is the front driver/passenger seats. Phone are not more important than their child, but most people have their phone in their pocket or purse. How many times have you forgot your phone at home or in the car?
@@obioraezeh6857 Exactly, thats the point of them adding phone features because it's like 2nd nature to have your phone. Also, the features aren't just about leaving baby in the car. It also tells you if they're unbuckled cause children tend to do things like that.
Very sturdy in comparison to other strollers that we had. I get a lot of compliments for it. My baby loves being in the bassinet, The ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx4qZutfp1y5CaTUcMTuFPbARE5u-8XLiE stroller comfortable. I like the rain cover and the white net that comes with it. I use the rain cover just to cover the car seat when it rains. If your front wheels don't turn well, make sure you lubricate.
@@cloudedcolour5329 that defeats the purpose. Why would I buy a car seat with wheels if my child cannot even ride in it for long periods of time? I might as well buy a stroller and a car seat separately. The doona is only convenient if you’re riding in a taxi or public transportation and you’re running a quick errand. Otherwise, keep a car seat in the car and get a stroller that reclines for newborns or an attachable bassinet.
@@marleyquinn5713 I completely agree with you. I'm 100% sure that I will purchase car seat and stroller separately. The car seat will be in the car without taking in and out all the time. I think it's even safer to buy separately, than doona and always has to be opened and closed. I'm not convinced and the priority is my baby safety.
Could be really useful for running errands. If I can go to the grocery store, shop, and get back home in 30 minutes it’s not less safe than having the baby in a car seat on a 45 minute drive. Don’t people go on entire road trips with their kids? If I had this car seat I would definitely choose to have a second seat and stroller option for times the doona wouldn’t be suitable

Is there any car seats for 80 pounds in harness mode
All they have left would be special needs car seats since britax discontinued the frontier
@@patienceane9477 I found a Britax Pioneer 90 on craigslist. Brand new, in the box, not expired
So cybex thinks phones are more important than babies to parents so they would forget their child but not their phone???
Phone are not more important than their child, but most people have their phone in their pocket or purse. How many times have you forgot your phone at home or in the car?
@@LaydeeLewinsky Honestly never...but I have forgotten it on my work desk and had to double back 😊
@@obioraezeh6857 Exactly, thats the point of them adding phone features because it's like 2nd nature to have your phone. Also, the features aren't just about leaving baby in the car. It also tells you if they're unbuckled cause children tend to do things like that.
Hello “future people”! 😝
What about gracco???
Sadly, didn’t make my list.
We just got Graco trio grows for our twins and they are amazing. The Graco infant bucket seats are not very nice though.
Hello past Eli 😭
Haha
"check your backseat, they're there, I promise." He says assuming everyone has a car newer than 2002 when it became a legal obligation in vehicles.

Dona is awful. A car seat should NOT be used outside of the car. plus you can use it for such a short amount of time
you can simply just lift the child out, thats a simple fix
