Winnipeg police shoot male after being armed with a knife

Winnipeg police officer shoots suspect after attempting to set fuel tank on fire:
Shortly before 5:30 pm Monday evening, Winnipeg police responded to a male attempting to set a tank on fire on a vehicle in the 800 block of Arlington st. No fire was set.
A male then armed himself with a knife and a rock and began to run in traffic confronting people and yelling.
As officers arrived on scene they found the male still armed in the roadway. A use of force encounter took place and officers used a taser on the male to try and disarm him. The taser was unsuccessful and officers discharged there firearm.
Officers quickly attended the male and began emergency first aid until paramedics arrived at the scene. The male was transported to hospital in unstable condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.
