Grilled Lobster Rolls

- Chef Tom offers up his take on an east coast summer classic with these Grilled Lobster Rolls. The fresh lobster gets a quick par-boil before hitting the grill. It's lightly charred over charcoal in the Yoder Smokers Adjustable Charcoal Flat Top Grill, then tossed in a compound butter and piled high on a fresh homemade brioche roll.

As chef John would say you are the mobster of your rolls filled with grilled lobster.
Turn that up
The tail hanging trick alone makes this video worth it.
I'm from New England, the home of the lobster roll and I've had hundreds and most suck and are too expensive. I think yours is the first I've seen that isn't 50% mayonnaise. Looks delicious, good job!
that window into toms shenanigans behind the scenes
Best intro to a video on here ever. lol
The first 25 seconds......wow.
What the hell did I just witness LOL.
Never again
Freaking hilarious. !!! LOL
Love how the New Englanders appreciate Chef Tom’s take on the lobster roll. People from Baltimore get all bent out of shape if you don’t do seafood their way and people from Texas hate it if you use anything besides salt and pepper on your meat.
I’m from Texas and I say you do you.
i love picking up ideas and techniques from this channel. makes my day better everytime.
The hell with traditional...this needs to be the NEW traditional style! Best looking lobster roll I've seen to date!
Omg!!! I actually open my mouth took an imaginary bite as Chef did.. 😩 tasted air. Hahaha. That looks soo good.
Thanks again, Chef Tom and team!
You know it's an amazing recipe when you come up with a song for it!
Dude, I've watched a ton of your content. Have always enjoyed what you make. This? Looks AMAZING!!!
Hilarious intro. I also really love how you respect all of the meat/fish products you use.
That's prob a $30 roll. Here in the NE so many places keep them plain i.e toasted hot dog bun and mayo and lettuce. Would buy your non-traditional roll in a heartbeat
What a great start to my Friday!
Please do more of the chef Tom intro. It brings out the taste and flavor👏👏👏👏
Hey chef Tom, nice opening. Keep up the work, really enjoy the videos
Would love to see a 'making of' video and some tips on how to keep my grill as clean as your ys640s
Sold me on this one chef Tom, looks amaze....deff gonna be trying this....thank's.....keep safe
Dude I love how you march to the beat of your own drum. The only problem I have with you is every time I watch one of your videos I'm always hungry, and by the end I'm in a murderous starving rage. 🤣 Well done sir. Keep the videos coming
Best intro, I did not know that Chef Tom is a nice artist too 😉. The rolls are looking mouthwatering 👍 👍👍
The beginning made my morning
If someone cant stand to watch the death of a lobster, they really shouldnt be watching this channel and BBQing lol
Note: if you dont sing the jingle and do the dance at the intro, it will have a negative effect on the taste of your lobster roll.
The brioche bun looks ✨✨✨
Great foodm loved the personal touch at tge start
The much preferred chef of this channel
I like that the roll appears to be soft..nice touch!! That compound butter tho!
This looks incredible! And it's making me hungry for 🦞 rolls for breakfast
Chef Tom, great video.
Speaking of great videos. It reminds me of the Brunswick Stew video you did.
Now I want some grilled lobster tacos for some reason!? Also, not only do those not so New England rolls look spectacular, but that opening - do more of that because it was awesome-sauce!
Best intro EVER.
Hey Chef Tom! Have you ever thought of doing a whole suckling pig in the YS640S? Love your work man!
That looks so good lol wish I could have been there to try it.
My reactions during this video:
"Stop! Just stop.
"Ooh Lobster"
"I think the lobster just realized it was lunch"
"Using the tail curl as a hook is brilliant. Never seen that before"
"Wow. I think he improved every ingredient"
"Looks REALLY tasty"
"Dude, stop"
I was wondering if you could make a mayonnaise from the compound butter to make a lobster salad roll. In fact, I would love to see you and Britt make some mayo, mustard, butter (from cream) etc. and see how you add BBQ to it.
Chef Tom’s a good dude.
Chef love your cutting of the lobster good way to cut all shellfish
That looks awesome
Sick bars bro.
Best intro yet!
Lobsta rolls, I love it!
Looks delicious! What would you think of a similar preparation but with shrimp or Dungeness crab?
I think they all have a sweet flavour and similar texture so they should turn out quite tasty
Ah crap! now I'm hungry. Gonna have to try this one.
Best intro by far
Intro was amazing lmfao
That looks delicious you got my mouth watering like a thirsty cat lol..definately will be trying this
Best intro song ever!!!
amazimg song 10/10
Thank you... Thank you for that intro
Chef Tom with a little rap, just Don’t leave anything behind from The poop tract!! Lol. Great cook!
Chef, you da man!
Go ahead on “Bubba” a whole new side of you. Live Maine Lobster on sale here in south Louisiana (9.99lb) going to give this a shot this weekend. You DaMan🤪
Crazy how cheap they are right now. Up here in Maine we're paying $4.99/lb for soft shell. I steamed up 6 last weekend and just ate it with butter squirting lobster juice everywhere. Some salt boiled potatoes on the side. I had to take a bath after I ate. But.......it was good. Not as good as hard shell but definitely worth every penny.
Kevin Wasilauskis , went to market to pick ‘em up and low and behold sold out. Bought large real large shrimp instead but not the same we eat shrimp regularly. Also got steaks settle for a little surf and turf. Life is good. Cheers 🥃
I laughed out loud. Thanks!
Nice Job Dude !!!,
Looks good chef
😂😂😂😂 man when you started rapping I looked at the title again and thought i clicked on somebody else's video. I was like i thought this was chef Tom.
Tom whats your opinion on camp chef pellet smokers?
Great episode! God I’m so hungry..
Florida's Spiny Lobster season started on 8/6. Would you recommend a Florida "bug" for this recipe, or should I stick with a cold water lobster?
Thats what's fun about cooking. No rules! Make it your own
To avoid confusion... Lobster tails are actually 3 minutes no chill and claws are 5 minutes and chill. Michelin guide standard.
It's a matter of preference. I tend to agree with you, but one can eat lobster raw and it's delicious, but some like it way firm and charred a bit. To each . . .
You had me at LOBSTER 🦞!
Just curious where are you at in KS?
I was born in Atchison KS. Funny how I saw this now lol my birthday is Sept. '53'.
Thank you chef for 16:40 minutes of lesson and 25 second of rap lol
Wowsers!!!
Would love to see you do a smoked pull chicken recipe.
Here's a link to to our BBQ Chicken Sandwich, the birds are spatchcocked, smoked and pulled (awesome sandwich BTW) - ua-cam.com/video/AZTseen2hes/v-deo.html. Thanks for watching.
May I suggest, that when grating citrus rind, please make sure you plunge it in boiling water for about 3-5 seconds, to kill any germs, before grating.

I really need to find a place around me that sells whole lobster, been wanting to experiment with cooking one. All I can find are tiny tails 😅
Like your lobster roll dance lol
That chef is a rappin fool! Had to LOL but it was a good rhyme never the less.
good looking lobsters
More Chef Tom rapping!
If you have oysters in your area I would love to see you do some smoke oysters yummy
Great idea!!!!
New Englander here, looks great and would try your way. Only difference for me would be doing what I have always done and drop the lobsters live into the water.
Can I ask what the diffrance is and how it affects the cooking?
Does not affect the cooking. Purely a matter of quick kill vs 15-30 secs of boiling kill. Some biologists say the central nervous system is not advanced enough to feel pain. Others say that’s a convenient story. I grew up just tossing them in the pot but now I do the knife dispatch method just in case. Easy extra step.
@@Rob-df6py thank you for your reply so it's more humane to do the knife method instant death sounds much more apealing than boiling to death for 20 seconds I've never tried fresh Lobster what does it taste like please?
My mouth is watering. LOL
Ad some chipotle on that Dijonaise 👌🏼 it’s gonna be tremendous 🔥🦞
That rap tho!
PS that intro was fire🔥🤣
😂😂😂 @ the intro....
I wonder what two two-pound lobsters cost in Kansas? In Nova Scotia they're running around $8.00 a pound, CAD (that's $6.00 USD).
I'm from Wichita also. Lobster tails were on sale at our major grocery store the other day. For 2 frozen lobster tails, fairly mediocre in size, was 18 dollars US.
I have a friend in Halifax, says he can go down to.the docks and buy just about anything fresh out of the water. Need to get up there for a visit sometime.
i would give up my first born for a Yoder flat top!!!!
im sorry did anyone see how he zested a lemon? amazing.
this is how they do it in Connecticut.
10:44 I’m about 95% sure he took that lil lobster meat and ate it for “chef tax” lol
More bbq rap please 😂
KC the best bbq town in the world!! Go chiefs
That is a really lovely overcooked lobster right there.
Curious how much one of those lobster cost? I have never bought one.. like $20 or $100??
Market price at a restaurant in STL has them at $47 a pound. In Maine I had a 3# for $30 a Lbs. Last year.
You can have lobsters shipped to you directly from Maine for about $25 a pound for 2 pounders and that’s with overnight shipping. If you are in New England, I’d expect to see maybe $12 a pound.
@@Ted_P awesome thanks!
I’m in FL and they ship live lobster down here and hold them in a tank, live. $15-$25 per pound, so about $20 or so each for the size Chef Tom was playing with. Grew up in NH and can tell you live lobster=live lobster no matter where they are. Don’t listen to the crazy Mainers telling you you have to stand on the dock to get them fresh.
Rob doesn’t Florida have their own version of lobster?
yaaaaaa awsome recipe isn't there cartilage in the claw meat you need two remove.???
🔥🔥🔥
Whens the ATBBQ.com album dropping??? Lol
do a lobster bisque!
Next time try some Old Bay in your butter!
Can you do your twist on a Shepards Pie?
Wish I had one of those. Look great. Chef Tom showing his other skills too. Lobster rapper. LOL
