- Hey folks, a few days ago the Salesforce CEO announced they won't hire any more devs this year because AI made them much more productive and that instead of software developers they will hire sales people. Is this true? Will it work out for them? What does this mean for the software engineers looking for a new position right now and for our future?

I'm a senior dev myself, and while I'm not super worried about AI or layoffs for myself right now, it is the background to everyone's experience. And it affects the job market when people are laid off - though of course my main thought is for the people who have been axed through no fault of their own.
Separately, what is depressing about these trends is that in the past, devs could feel like we were part of a big collaboration with smart and forward-looking tech leaders, unlike the rest of the business world. But now, they have made it clear that they don't value us. We're just labor to be squeezed or tossed out, like management has always treated labor.
It's sad. I hope they reap the whirlwind as they deserve, but I am not confident that bad people get their comeuppance anymore.
Salesforce is SUPER SUPER SUPER expensive for what it is! I used it at work for like 3 years and it is a powerful tool if you're willing to basically code your own solutions for what you want to do. It's actually not that user friendly for a non-technical employee. It's something like $1200/year per employee by the way! That's INSANELY expensive, especially when comparing it against other enterprise software.
Always enjoy listening to your discussions! Very underrated channel.
Thank you @sergiim
As a junior developer trying to star his career, is hard to keep going and improve myself, trying to get a job, staying motivated, and etc. while handling the insecurities that arises in me from this type of sayings.
Thank you guys, for kinda debunking these topics. Also, great content. As I am following the channel, I try to watch every video, sometimes it's a bit harder because they are more advanced but it's interesting to me to know what it needs to become a senior.
Very happy to have you here Petar! The technical skills will come and the sooner you get the Senior mindset the better. We are glad we helped and will release more video in this direction :)
Don't worry guys, good engineers will always be in demand. Anyways, thanks for highlighting this topic.
2:33 quite a scratch there, Dragos😂
SalesForce actually gained market share in 2024.
I know it will happen but it's happening faster than I thought
ha ha our experience shows the oposite so far with AI tools, watch until the end to see why
Don’t worry - it’s not actually happening. This was CEO BS talk to make the shareholders happy after bad decisions in the previous year. The claims about AI is not true and nothing to do with the freeze.
Could you please tell what is the conclusion ? I cannot get your native English tell me in simple English
hey there, maybe turn on the captions, that should help
Funny part is that its a lie
Although, they're hiring software developers in India
I won’t be surprised they will start hiring again on all fronts as soon as the AI hangover kicks in
