underrated,i followed him,from the marbles to hi disco,and hard rock,to us he was never underrated,tho joining rainbow,was a ?mark,following another great singer,but the album he recorded with rainbow was good,not great
Loved Graham and Cozy for their early rainbow songs but this is such a great and underated song ..hoping history acknowledge Bonnets contribution to rock !!
For sure. He turned into a screaming metalhead before I even knew what metal was. My mother still has no idea where it came from and what happened to her daughter... I tell her she shouldn't've shagged the postman >:-)
A great singer. He had everything, a powerful voice, charisma, a good looking and unique fashion style in heavy metal. In my opinion what he always needed was THE BAND. Although his time in Alcatrazz, his career was like a freelance singer who work for many bands. He was in a band and next year he was in another band. On the other hand he can say that he recorded with much of the greatest musicians of 70's and 80's rock: like Ritchie Blackmore, Micky Moody, Michael Schenker, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Chris Impellitteri, Bruce Kulick, Vivian Campbell, Slash, Jon Lord, Cozy Powell and many others.
Has it really taken me this long to find this song again Watched it on top of the tops about 5-6 years ago on bbc four with my dad and I loved this and I started listening to so many other songs I forgot this song existed It just came up in my recommenced now thanks UA-cam!
I saw this new. I loved him instantly I think we all did. I loved TOTP too there's nothing like it anymore. No one has ever been quite so real as Graham was. Thanks for sharing this mate.
Defined Graham Bonnet is one of my favorite vocalists. Not just by your voice and visual, that are unique, but because he is an excellent songwriter. His vocal lines are great, and unique. Here is the proof.
According to the liner notes of the booklet of the Line Up CD this track had Cozy Powell on drums, Micky Moody on Acoustic & Electric guitar, Gary Twigg on Bass, Andy Bown on Organ & Piano and Francis Rossi on Coral Sitar: S.H.7 Syntheziser.
Graham Bonnet is a great singer. Why do people complain about the obvious miming? At Top Of The Pops, all the artists pantomime to their tracks,.... Depeche Mode, Jimmy Nail, you name 'em,.... they all were made to lip synch on TOTP. They didn't have live acts on that TV show at that time. Yngwie really added lots of flavor to this song for sure, but I really like this version as well. :)
More excellent digging from your good self Igor. I've got this song on one of those cheapo "Rock N Roll Years -1981" cd compilations. Good, strong vocal performance from Mr Bonnet on this track and the song rocks along nicely. Cheers for posting.
See the man in the busy street He's almost incomplete He takes his pleasure in strange ways And the lady in the library She's just like you and me You wouldn't know her at all. Listening to DIFFICULT TO CURE you can tell that Bonnet was one og the top 10 singesr worldwide. I wonder what went wrong with him, he got lost after that album...
Stone Cold and Street of Dreams are my favorite songs from the Turner era of Rainbow but I do agree with you, he did suck as a singer. 1. Ronnie James Dio 2. Graham Bonnet 3. Joe Lynn Turner Those are my favorite singers in Rainbow in that order.
@Zukatsr125 I absolutely agree. All those "guitar hero" type of guitarist from the 80's like malmmsteen, satriani, steve vai, paul gilbert... and so on are so much overrated. They're technically very good, but neither of them have a bit of emotions like for example Gallagher had, or Gary Moore or already mentioned Micky Moody (especially when he's teamed up with Bernie Marsden)
I could be wrong, but I think I've seen some old Judas Priest TOTP that were non-lip-sync (live), in which Halford's full vocal prowess was on resplendent display. (e.g. 1979 "Take on the World"). To be sure the band was "canned", but Halford appears to be singing "live".
@1970GWB I'm afraid he doesn't look good nowadays... I'm not sure but looks that he is seriously ill.. And he still goes on touring.... That's bravery for me
@Gillanfan89 yes your right, its not that hard to play fast, but to create a really nice song is a totally diffrent thing to do.. But, you will brake my heart in 2 peaces if you say that Buckethead is overrated :P lol ..
@Zukatsr125 I've listened to him, to be honest he isn't so overrated (like satriani is) but his sound is experimental, not so close to my taste, but i've always had respect towards him (expect the mistake that he made by playing in the band "Axl Rose and Little Thorns" so called new G'n'R which i can't digest at all !
Hey Cozy Powell fans, I'm currently working on a documentary on the life and work of Cozy called 'Dance With The Devil: The Cozy Powell Story'. For more information please go to my UA-cam page, watch the teaser trailer, check out our links and spread the good word. Thanks!
That's the late great Isaac Guillory miming the guitar parts on this. Mostly known as an acoustic player and very much a guitarist's guitarist. Punch his name into UA-cam and you'll find plenty of mind-blowing videos
Absolutely Brilliant Group ❤❤❤
Cozy Powell is at his best. What a drummer! True legend!
One of the greatest and most underrated rock singers ever.
The man is awesome.
Voice to die for❤
underrated,i followed him,from the marbles to hi disco,and hard rock,to us he was never underrated,tho joining rainbow,was a ?mark,following another great singer,but the album he recorded with rainbow was good,not great
@@keven11224 Bonnet has had a great music career and is still performing live

One of my fave songs from 1981. Brilliant! Love Graham's voice on this song.
Loved Graham and Cozy for their early rainbow songs but this is such a great and underated song ..hoping history acknowledge Bonnets contribution to rock !!
Steve Akhurst
I hope so.He had a bit of a dry period , but now he toures like crazy with Graham Bonnet Band.
For sure. He turned into a screaming metalhead before I even knew what metal was. My mother still has no idea where it came from and what happened to her daughter...
I tell her she shouldn't've shagged the postman >:-)
Fucksake. S/b Turned ME into..."
Putting all the words in the sentence really help with comprehension, Blob.

Best time ever for music. This is a classic.

Graham always looks like he's pushing his singing out so hard. I love this song
LOVE IT!!!! EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SONG IS GREAT.
Was so in love with this bloke when I was a teen,A long long loooooong time ago.
Takes me back to 81 great time s
amazing vocalist, brill song to. one of rocks best vocalists..
Bloody hell not heard this song for decades feel so old now lol
i got the album when it came out. Always liked this tune.
That was Top of the Pops (and many other shows of that era, like American Bandstand, Soul Train, etc) for ya.

Rare bit of footage! I was so pleased when they released Line Up on CD I'd worn out the Vinyl, need a new Cd version now too!
いつ観ても格好いいな
Sad at my father was not oriented to listen this kind of music, even he was about thirty years old in those days.
Anthem-tastic!
Unfortunately I missed this back in the early 80s, being about 5 at the time I was always in bed by 7 (before TOTP) due to school next day.
Сильный солист👍👍👍👍👍👍🔥
я просто обалдел! сколько лет живу, слушаю музыку и не знал этого певца! супер!
True. I used to love top of the pops in the late 70's/80's, everybody knew the artists were miming but nobody cared

Games of the night
Every room is a different scene
Every one has a different dream
They make it anyway they choose
You can get anything you need
Anyone if the price's agreed
And nothing left for you to lose
It's entertainment for the lost and lonely
And cabaret for those who dare
The last attainment of the one and only
It's got to be to get you there.

This is just before he did the album with Michael Schenker, who had Cozy Powell on drums at this time. Although he left before the album with Bonnet.
agree 100 with Joe N awesome voice. Born to be a rock singer
я просто обалдел! сколько лет живу, слушаю музыку и не знал этого певца! супер!
пел в Rainbow, но недолго
Wasn't he in the duo the marbles?
Brilliance surprised he isn't more popular
Cozy Powell on drums, Gary Twigg on bass ( who were both on Bonnet's solo album) dont recognise the other two though?
Alls Monsters!!! 👏👏👏👏
カッコいい‼️
西洋ヤクザ😎👍レインボウ、MSG.声のパワーがすごいね👍
One skill that Graham Bonnet and Cozy Powell don't have is miming on TOTP! This was obviously of the era when they were not allowed to perform live.
Check out Only One Woman by The Marbles. Bonnet serves up another incredible vocal performance .
I've been looking for this one on Karaoke track download sites for years, but no sites I know have it.
Graham Bonnet super
I WOULD LOVE TO LISTEND THIS AT MY WEDDING SOME DAY
i've been trying to look for the guitar tab to this awesome song
Great album 'line up'
briliant

Blackmore was a fool to let Bonnet get away from him!
Listening to DIFFICULT TO CURE you can tell that Bonnet was one og the top 10 singesr worldwide. I wonder what went wrong with him, he got lost after that album...
astel graaf Down to Earth was the Bonnets album.
Joe Lynn Turner was the vocalist of Difficult to Cure album.
He was not the vocalist on that album.
Got the 45
Sounds a little bit like Abba. But what a great voice Bonnet always had, check out his performance at the Monsters of Rock, Donnington 1980
Check out the new (2020) 6 disc box-set of his early albums (all re-mastered) from Cherry Red records ! Includes the Line Up album .
Got it, it's a great collection
@uke1964
Well if by THEY you mean Bonnet with Moddy, Cozy Powell & Jon Lord. Then they released and album called Line Up from 1981
I want to sing this on Karaoke but it's not on either of the sites I use.
日本では西条秀樹‼️
Looked like cozy on drums but couldn't tell fo sho!
Jman
You're absolutely right, it was Cozy on the drums
Oh ok,I forgot cozy played on the bonnet solo album which by 1981 cozy was part of MSG
on near it!
Jman
If it is Cozy Powell he's not using his own drum kit. Cozy used twin bass drums with his name on them and this is only a single bass drum.
I Like this more than Rainbow with Bonnet(still my favourite band).
@MrRossi48
Really ? That's new one for me, thanks
SOS should have been the next single. I think Bonnett himself said the record company chose the wrong single after Night Games.
Holy crap is that Kyle Reese singing lead, get the hell out of there before the terminator finds you!
hee hee
Tommy Vance loved this track. And that speaks volumes. (If you're asking "Who's Tommy Vance?".....errrm, better move on I think.)
Bonnet is best rocker singer
Stone Cold and Street of Dreams are my favorite songs from the Turner era of Rainbow but I do agree with you, he did suck as a singer.
1. Ronnie James Dio
2. Graham Bonnet
3. Joe Lynn Turner
Those are my favorite singers in Rainbow in that order.
All the comments that slag him off for lip syncing remember they don`t have a choice on Top of the Pops they have to
@Zukatsr125
I absolutely agree. All those "guitar hero" type of guitarist from the 80's like malmmsteen, satriani, steve vai, paul gilbert... and so on are so much overrated.

やっぱオリジナルが一番良い❗
they maid a album what was it called .who can tell me
ハイトーン+ノンビブラート痺れるぜ!!
日本語に出逢えて嬉しいぜ。!!(T_T)

Nobody sung live
Эти звуки в крови моей...
1:27 Joe Walsh?
1171karl Definetly not
Привык слушать эту композицию с Лордом на клавишах и Муди с гитарой
Isaac Guillory on guitar in this video.
@1970GWB
I'm afraid he doesn't look good nowadays... I'm not sure but looks that he is seriously ill..
And he still goes on touring.... That's bravery for me
@1970GWB yes he is very good.....but he didn't write this one.
It was written by Ed Hamilton.... great song :-)
@Gillanfan89 cheers
@1sussexmatt
No no Micky Moody played lead guitar. And some other guitar parts were played by Ray Fenwick
@Gillanfan89 yes your right, its not that hard to play fast, but to create a really nice song is a totally diffrent thing to do.. But, you will brake my heart in 2 peaces if you say that Buckethead is overrated :P lol ..
@1sussexmatt
Francis Rossi produced this song and he also played coral sitar on the track
Ex lead singer of rainbow their best frontman
@Zukatsr125
I've listened to him, to be honest he isn't so overrated (like satriani is) but his sound is experimental, not so close to my taste, but i've always had respect towards him (expect the mistake that he made by playing in the band "Axl Rose and Little Thorns" so called new G'n'R which i can't digest at all !
Sounds just like the studio version
@uke1964
No problem
Hey Cozy Powell fans, I'm currently working on a documentary on the life and work of Cozy called 'Dance With The Devil: The Cozy Powell Story'. For more information please go to my UA-cam page, watch the teaser trailer, check out our links and spread the good word. Thanks!
Difficult song. Try singing this and not sounding like a dork!
i think he sounds like bon Scott
@sin1987runescape
but then Malmsteens no Blackmore either!
@sin1987runescape
Hold on, i know the solo isn't special but you just can't compare Moody to malmmsten
That's the late great Isaac Guillory miming the guitar parts on this. Mostly known as an acoustic player and very much a guitarist's guitarist. Punch his name into UA-cam and you'll find plenty of mind-blowing videos
Looks like Micky Moody couldn't make the gig
Sounds like a song that was written for kiss
