    Actually we steam the batter . We add crushed green chillies .and make like dhokla..then cool down and crush and then garnish with all extra stuff like U did..

    Hey Shivesh, little correction..
    Gujaratis never have a combination of sev tomatoes sabji and dal. We normally eat sev tomatoes in dinner and dal in lunch. It doesn’t look authentic gujarati style.

    We gujjus mostly use jaggery instead of brown sugar in dahl. And ratlami sev in sev tameta

      I'm from kathiyawad and we don't add ratlami sev. Normal sev is used and we use garlic chutney instead of normal chilli powder. In our house, we prepare garlic chutney for a month without adding water to it. We peel 7 to 10 garlic poads. Add that peeled cloves in mortar and pestle with some good amount of salt. Make paste of it and the we add chilli powder and oil for preservation. We keep this in an airtight jar for a month. If you need liquid garlic chutney to eat with dhokla we take out spoonful garlic chutney from the jar and make it liquid by adding water.

    it's kathol (sprouts like mug, kala chana, etc )and khichdi is supposed to be eaten with kadhi its a deadly combination.

    Anahita I know that when parsi people came to India for the 1st time they were landed on surat Beach and the king of that asked how you'll blend here with people so they asked for a glass of milk and some sugar so they put sugar in milk and mixed it and sugar melted in it and they have answered the king that we'll mix here like sugar and like was part of it 🤗

    Kathol means pulses in English
    There are so many subjis made in Gujarat from kathol such as mung chana math piece etc
    And usually in gujarat weekly one day they make kathol especially on Thursday

    In Gujarat the south region is called Saurashtra
    also know as kathiyawad where you can get the actual desi Gujarati food ka taste if you make part two surely add some kathiyawadi dishes to try, trust me you'd love it 🙃

      West Gujarat is saurashtra. I already suggested him Dahi Oro, Bhungada bataka, jamnagar na ghughra, rajkot ni potato chips with rajkot ni chutney. Dhokli nu shaak, kathiyawadi red undhiyu. Adad paak, sukhadi. Pls suggest more if you're kathiyawadi.

    You told kathod was basically mung ki sabji
    Kathol means any legumes in gujarati.
    Mung , Muth, chana, all are in kathol category in gujarati

    Bro must try Dahi Oro from Kathiyawad with Bajre ka rotla. Take Amul masti dahi which is thick and not sour. Whisk it well. Add some salt and black salt, Add nicely chopped or crushed ginger chillies, Add chopped Coriander, Pinch of roasted cumin powder and Coriander powder, mix well and keep it in fridge. Now get some green baigan for bharta, roast them and peel them, use knife and do khat khat khat in smallest pieces you can cut. Let the bharta cool down then add it to the prepared dahi. Now in tadka pan add finely chopped garlic n chilli powder for red color. Add this tadka on the dahi oro(bharta). Enjoy with rotla topped with desi white makkhan.

    It's Kathol , which means lentils in Gujarati. Gujarati food is like finding perfect balance among different flavors like sweet, sour, salty, spicy etc.

    Omg! I loved this episode! Actually khandavi recipe you should try an some authentic gujrati one! It's delicious that ways and you missed our staple bhikhari, dhebra, bajri no rotlo and bajri na wada.. infact we do lots of types of wada which kind of fried poodis with lot of spices n green chillies coriander and green lasan. Also try karhiyawadi thali! Lapsi sheero basundi kheer penda for sweets! Khaman idada dhokla wati dal na khaman all known by gujaratis as dhokla! N undhiyu and matla undhiyu of course! Kheechdo! And our waghareli kheechdi with kadhi in fact Gujaratis do kadhi with every sabji possible! Even bhindi kadhi ! 😬

    yrr bhaiya yaha gujarat me yehi unlimited gujarati thali 150 ki milti h 1100 me to humara family of 12 hum sab kha lete h please come to gujarat to try authentic gujarati food abhi to you cannot taste patra, gujarati masala khichdi, basundi, gathiya ki sabzi, bhungda bateka (basically yellow long fryums with potato with upar dates imli ki chutney pomogrennate and sev), kaju gathiya ki sabzi, daal dhokli (gujarati pasta), and much much more

    it's called kathod which means pulses. You had mix kathod as it was a mix of pulses like moong, channa, chole, chawli etc.

    But to try the authentic gujrati food you must visit gujrat itself.
    There are lots of amazing things which you can try and as per your taste palate you'll definitely enjoy them.

    but don't know why people get confused between Khamman and Dhokla....
    Gujrati Thali didn't look appetizing/appealing at all...
    Kadhi is my most favourite except Gujrati Kadhi
