    Always love watching this tutorial. You mentioned the foot controls for a snare or cymbal roll, with a grand crash 2nd... BUT, you never demonstrated it. I find the piano pedals on organs VERY fascinating!! I would love to see you demonstrate some of those sometime.

    It would have been nice to hear an organ harp. I'm particularly fond of arrangements using that stop. But I guess that you can't demonstrate what you don't have.
    What you refer to as "A spice rack" is more usually called a "Toy Box" here in the U. S.

      Keyboard Skills Pro Haha yes, and speaking of ‘over here,’ we tend to call them theatre organs. Not cinemER organs. Ha! But, those little differences, and accents, are what I so enjoy and appreciate about cultures and countries, etc. 😊👍🏼

    Another good video. But you spoke of the toe pedals and pistons, but NEVER pressed them! I want to HEAR every specific instrument you mention. lol. Also you might mention that you can get a faster cymbal rhythm but selecting a cymbal on the pedal and also selecting the cymbal for he ACCOMP... But always informative and I appreciate these. Thank you.

      Listen again. The video couldn't show the foot pedals but he did use them. At the start of the final demonstration I hear 3 parts ( not voices) two hands can't do that.

      Yep! But the organ hadn’t been installed long when this was shot :)
      The tibia was removed and replaced with a diapason as it was restored and then installed in a church. The organ originally was installed in the Art Cinema, Bury, UK

    '3C' was also the description of the organ in the Palladium cinema in Copenhagen. I have heard that the 'C' refers to it being only a 'coupler manual'. What actually is a coupler manual and why have it?

    • @KeyboardSkillsPro
      @KeyboardSkillsPro  Рік тому

      A coupler manual is a 3rd keyboard designed to make a smaller organ eg a 2/8 look larger and add a bit more functionality for the organist.
      Often Manual III offers a small set of stops, maybe a percussion and couplers from the Solo and accomp manuals

    Howdy there! Love the channel and really appreciate the valuable information. However, this Patreon crap is a mess! I thought I already had an account with Patreon but when I signed in, it told me that my page had been “unlaunched”. And trust me, I looked and looked, and NEVER did figure out what the heck to do to fix this. It’s ridiculously complicated for my 43 year old brain! So needless to say, I never even saw a place to download a free PDF that you offered in this video. Since it is free, couldn’t you just put the direct link on this description? Otherwise, I’ll probably never see it. Many thanks for your attention to this matter. AND, a million thanks for all of the wonderful videos and concerts you have posted. Cheers!!!

      Hi - thanks for the great comments.
      All PDFs are only available now via Patreon upon signup for Silver Level or above. Years ago PDFs were free but it takes time to produce quality PDFs I'm sure you'll understand.
      I would simply signup for a fresh Patreon account - it's a relatively simple sign-up process.

    Lovely tutorial as always Tom! :-), very informative. Though, I do have one question if you don't mind me asking... and that is what's the name of that piece you were playing @ 7:50? (the blackpool-ey sounding one) and if you have a full version performance of it? I love the sound and very up-lifting too. :-)
    Cheers!

    That chrysoglott sounds like a vibraphone I like it because on the Wurlitzer in my town such is a 4/32 Wurlitzer we have on the tremulants a trem that turns the chrysoglott into a vibraphone so is the vibrato inteninal or not

    What about those Colored stops that have the color names written on them?

    • @KeyboardSkillsPro
      @KeyboardSkillsPro  4 роки тому +1

      Those are for the organist to choose the colour of the jelly mould light surround. This was a popular feature of some theatre organs during the 1930s Art Deco era.

    What do the tabs with the odd colors do?

    • @KeyboardSkillsPro
      @KeyboardSkillsPro  6 років тому +1

      The multi coloured stops were for the glass surround originally on certain organs. The ‘jelly mould’ as it got nicknamed, was popular in 1930s cinema a la Art Deco.
      The colours could automatically cycle or the organist could choose a suitable colour for the music.

    How about registration on bigger organs (17+ ranks) with stops like the post horn/ English horn?

    • @KeyboardSkillsPro

      Great idea but it’s difficult to get access to those sizes - biggest in the U.K. are only about 20-25 ranks.

      Keyboard Skills Pro I've already seen every your theatre organ videos, that are very useful. Unfortunately I live in Italy where there is only a 2/7 WurliTzer (style E) at about 8 hours of travel from my house. I play on Hauptwerk the 3/17 freedom Morton sampleset with 2 keyboards (one divided in a half) and an octave pedalboard. Really thank you for these videos because they helped a lot (I'm totally self taught on keyboards, but i study music and trumpet in a school from when i was 8)
