Somethings wrong because resolve works like butter. You do have to have enough RAM. I have 128 gigs of RAM and it’s always buttery smooth even when editing 6K. Also, my external hard drives are very very fast… That can make a difference also.

Excellent video and I’ve been trying to switch the Davinci Resolve. The page UI workflow from left to right is awesome and the overall UI is more intuitive.
My frustration is that, even with my M2 Max Mac Studio, there’s lag. From regular playback to using effects like Magic Mask, it slows my editing down.

I had an issue too and I bought the best mac, I had to make more memory available.

This is why i can't fully commit to the switch. Just need a faster Macbook.

I don't know the settings on a Mac, but it's important in Windows to set the correct settings for hardware acceleration. And of course use the Studio version, which supports hardware acceleration.
Also, just use cache/proxies, if needed. Even the pros do that. There seems to be a trend between UA-camrs who tests NLEs, that if the NLE struggles, it's either because your computer isn't strong enough and you need to upgrade it, or it's a crap software. Well, guess what! Even pro studios with +$20.000 computers use proxies if necessary, because life's too short to deal with a struggling timeline.

Your Fusion example is a very bad one, as you can do that, without Fusion or any effect. The upside is that you can enable caching for each Fusion clip, but you could as well enable caching for the video clip itself.

Davinci Resolve is actually pretty easy to use and that's coming from a straight up beginner with video editing in any capacity lol.

I agree, my intention was just to test and see if it was something I was willing to learn. I was just a little remorseful that I bought all the motionvfx effects for finalcut.
