Nice review! As a Canadian, I learned early on that the British Army saved the Canadian colony - not the Militia and Natives. All three were crucial, of course, but there's no replacement for strict discipline and high-quality training. I really enjoy this game, as well as the other two Academy Games, 1754 and 1775. Unfortunately, on the Steam version of 1812, there's a bug. When the US is played by the computer, they will get extra movement points, and can bring many more units into the fight early on. Oh well, war is heck!
Very nice review Matt I think that most of academy games have great box art and very well laid out rule books and high quality components it is just a shame most of their games are not in my wheel house apart from the CoH series

Excellent overview for an excellent game Matt. Loving my copy of the Road Chosen so far as well.
The box cover is awesome. But I love my hex n counters. Just not a fan of area or pt. to pt. The game does look real nice.
