Best wishes on this project. As I'm sure you known Colonel Frost (of Market Garden fame) wrote about this operation in his memoir and spoke of it as being a close-run thing. Another game--from Vae Victis--takes on this event as well, and as interesting as it was, seemed to me to be rather predictable after a couple of turns. One core issue is how much a game depends on decisions and how much on dice rolls. Too often, solitaire games emphasize the latter. Again, hope all goes well with this effort. Thank you for the video, as well as your other work on this most interesting channel.

I have begun to read through the rules to this amazing-looking game but come up against something a ‘brick wall’, which I really hope you can help with. I have been playing wargames for about fifty years now, so maybe I am missing something obvious because I’m knocking on a bit, but I cannot find in any of the scenario information how many ‘Army Fatigue Points’ you start with. The reduction of them is clear, but as I say from what number? It seems that the shorter scenarios don’t use them, as it says to ignore rules regarding Army Fatigue, but what about the main battle? I apologise if I am being dim, but if you can help, I shall be in your debt!

I don’t think it’s as bad as some are making out. But it is definitely frustrating that basic errors/omissions are made in the rules.

I have just managed to get a copy from Second Chance Games in Britain, but thanks anyway. It arrived today, but I am working away from home and won’t be able to ‘dive’ into the box till late on Saturday night! 😢

This is excellent and much needed, particularly given the frustration surrounding the game. Thank you for a comprehensive, even-handed and generous assessment of the state of play (as it were) concerning the rules.

Hopefully a developer and proofreader are employed for the next games in the series. I have a lot of hesitance in supporting on the future after feeling really burned by backing this one and getting a boxed beta experience.

Thank you Matt for this great effort. Just in case I didn't mention it: We will print the rules manual, charts & tables with the print of Quatre Bras 1815 / Wartenburg 1813 and will offer them for free. The changes have been the result of many great feedbacks by players who asked for a little bit more detail. And Andrew James made an incredible work by checking all syntax and made some good suggestions on how to better organize some paragraphes.

I just purchased Memoir '44 for the first time, with the four main expansion packs and the Breakthrough Kit. The Winter Wars pack suggests that the Winter/Desert Map be purchased first. However, the Breakthrough Kit also comes with four terrain maps including a Winter/ Desert map. Is there a difference in content or scenarios by purchasing the Winter/ Desert Board by itself versus the Breakthrough Kit which already includes the map? Check it Out! Answer are appreciated. STICKERS!! I made the mistake years ago of ordering this base game along with Austrian and Russian armies all at once. LOL I was about to nibble on a shotgun by the time I was done with that. Its a great game though and worth it in the end. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Matt, enjoyed. I have not referenced by copy, but ‘looking’ at it, it feels a Prussian win to me … in that the French failed to destroy the Prussian army in the field, which is what I think the battle is all about. Looking forward to getting the new Eylau / Friedland games out.

What rules do you use for that scale?

Games that take an hour for others, take five hours for me and my friends lol. I think my playgroup has problems with just winging it. We want to make good decisions which makes our games longer. If we can finish a Band of Brothers game in three hours, it's fast for us lol.

This makes me think of Avalon Hill's Tactics II game I had growing up.

Didyou clip the chit corners yourself or were they of such fine quality? Do they provide the dice? Not game-related: Why do you say 'one dice'? Is it not 'one die, two dice'? Or if 'one dice', should it not be 'two dices'? I am french-speaking, learning;, sorry if rude.) Edit.- at 10:44 you say 'the second die'.

I am curious at how you store the game (keep the ziplock? design a box? join a document organizer?) and specifically the counters (all loose in the ziplock? smaller zip? several zips? united in a separator tray with other games? create a carton or origami 'matchbox'?). Thanks for the info and the enthusiasm.

An impressive collection and striking work, thank you for allowing others to see it. Is it correct to assume that the camouflage is designed for Western Front action, specifically in France and engagements in that region from 1944-1945? I'm unfamiliar with Bolt Action.

I backed this one as well, but still waiting for it to arrive. Part of what intrigued me is that it covers the campaigns in Egypt, which doesn't seem well represented in wargaming. I hope you make a follow-up video after you've played it.

I saw this demonstrated at Salute 2023. The mechanics looked like a very interesting way of recreating a historic campaign with plenty of opportunity for things to go differently. I've just got my copy and agree with you about the high quality of the game components. May get it on the table today - a bit of clearing away first!

Awaiting for it, and also for the next modules in the series about Maida and Capri. Very original visual style and choice of campaigns... it looks like a very promising series with a different take on Napoleonic wargaming.
