How to replace a plug socket on the stairs

My ex brother in law fitted this on the stair riser about 40+ years ago (then was a rented flat). He used it to steal electricity from the landlord. Hence was used for an electric heater constantly. He left it in place when he moved out. Never thought I'd see that again !!!! Yes this very flat

Thanks for video (don’t need music on these) You would have been better to extend the cables with some more twin and earth using wago connectors and also your CPC(earth) needs greenyellow sleeving

WTF i cant tell you enough at how dangerous this is.. electricity + wood is a disaster waiting to happen. go back and remove the socket, go under the stairs and remove that spur line..
