the g502 was my first gaming mouse and the mouse that made transitioning to pc from console so much more easier with all the extra buttons. as much as i loved it and hold it in high regards for any beginner in pc gaming I can't see going back to such a heavy mouse. Been using the rival 310 and i absolutely love how it fits my hand. feels like my hand is floating as I use it. I also don't see a need for two mice since I don't use my pc for much work. I understand the need to do this to their best selling mouse but I hope we get another new entry to the logitech mouse family soon.
I've used a g502 for 5 years now, using no weights. Its plastic sides have molded around my fingers, literally. also the wheel is quite corroded. It's the most durable mouse I've had. I would buy the wireless version
Holy shit i thought i was the only one!Mine is also 5years old, i also have the mold you are talking about on the right side of the mouse and the corroded wheel.
Me and my dad over the years have used box cutters to shave plastic off of cables getting them to fit in such ports. Would not recommend since there is a high risk of cutting yourself but sanding down sides with a belt sander works just as well and is a bit safer
I don't know if you will read or not, I hope you will. I used a mouse by corsair for around a year now, playing a shooter with the aim to get better. The mouse was big and heavy and had a wired shape, but when I bought it I thought it looked nice. I had some problems with my fingers after a while, and using the mouse got more and more uncomfortable. Now I use a different mouse that I chose after testing and watching your videos and I dont have problems anymore. Thanks a lot for that, you made gaiming for me a lot more enjoyable and kept me from spending useless money. Greetings from Germany, keep it up
The left button on the Wireless is faster because the Wired is lifted. Logitech mice have higher click delay when lifted. So when doing these tests lenses should be covered.
Interesting, and rather arbitrary. You'd expect the opposite, since a lifted mouse doesn't have to send as much data. I've tried searching for this observation, but couldn't find any mentions of this, do you happen to have a source with more information? I'm quite curious.
@@Aidiakapi The reasoning behind it is very simple, it is done in order to prevent slam clicks from happening. You can search the mice section on Overclock.net for more on this, it's a well-researched topic there.
I have Logitech M705 and it has double click problem (2 clicks instead of one), googled if G502 has the same, and found that many users encountered such issue, not buying any Logitech products again.
A lot of mice have double click problems, not only Logitech. Its to do with the omoron switches used. However Logitech mice do seem to have more double click issues.
@@dalzy25 I use Chinese A4 tech x750 for 4 years now and don't have such problem, I didn't have such problem with any mouse I used in the past 15 years, only Logitech
its not the switch per say as ive understood the issue but the compatibility of the switch with the pcb voltages that is cousing most of the double click issues, basically the board is running the switches out of spec. There is a good video explaining it but i forgot the creator
Percy Jackson I’ve only had to deal with them from my own stupidity haha. I lost the cover for the bottom of my 502 and they sent a replacement no charge
@@tonyoles2714 I don't think they do, I think they just tell themselves that. I used to be someone that thought they liked heavier mice until I got more competitive and saw how objectively limiting it was.
The rubber collects sweat very well. But that can be a bad thing for looks. Because of the moulded triangles in the rubber it makes it very difficult to clean.
Ive been using heavy ish mouse for a long time(100g+) and when i switched to a lighter mouse 85g below. My aim improved. and it improved ALOT. i might not go back to a heavy mouse again. I always thought light mouse are just a gimmick. And ive seen alot of Zy's vid and he says "lighter mouse is better" and ive ignored that until i got a light mouse.
i have my logitech g502 Prometheus spectrum for 6 years and i used it until now i was thinking to buy another g502 wireless and wired one the quality sooo good
I bought the G603 as a traveling gaming mouse, and it works well for that purpose but the shape is all wrong for me. I don't mind a mouse being a bit on the heavy side and I've been really happy with my G502 wired (with the original sensor). The only thing that's kinda getting in the way now is the wire, so this edition might just be the one I'll end up buying next to replace my still perfectly functioning G502 Proteus Core. Like you said, it's kind of a jack of all trades. It works for productivity and for gaming. I really notice the lack of the hyper scroll wheel on my G603
Don't skip what RJN says at 4:45 "and hopefully later try an even lighter mouse like GPW or G305" and then at 5:13 "however I will still use smaller lighter mouse for when I want to play quake" aka G502 is not a up to par as an FPS gaming mouse but its okay for browsing the interwebs.
Love your videos. I've been thinking about the charging cable. I think Logitech needs a tight and secure cable in case you want to use it wired. The 903 has a cable that provides a secure fit, but allows the mouse to be charged with any cable. The G502 has a cable that provides a secure fit, but now the cable can be used with other accessories (so while using my G502 in wireless mode, I can use the cable to charge another device). I think either way something was going to be sacrificed, and maybe they thought it'd be better to allow other devices to use the cable.
Oh yeah the plastic thing is awesome, but they told me they were doing something with recycling and I just asked for more info. Really cool that they took the initiative to get onto the issue, hopefully more big companies follow their lead.
I just want your guys opinion on this: I talked with a guy and he said that the g502 Hero had a weight of 161 grams because you are supposed to take the weight of the cable and the mouse to find the weight, i disagreed. Because of this, the G502 Lightspeed was a lot heavier because of the extra 40 grams from the cable. He said that the cable would also add 8-12 grams to the already 121 grams of the g502 Hero because the cable is also somewhat inside the mouse itself. I disagree with what he said because the cable only adds a cable drag which makes the mouse FEEL heavier when its not really a lot heavier. I do know that the Lightspeed is lighter (114g) than the Hero (121g), but he said that the Hero was 160g vs the 114g on the Lightspeed.
@arse For some reason I can't get used to wireless. I've gotten so accustomed to wire drag that my aim actually suffers when I don't have it. Feelsbadman
I just got the G502 Lightspeed mouse, and not had any other G502. They really should had added 3 scroll sensitivity option on this, then it would been perfect. They should added a sensitivity in between the spinning and the kind of harder scroll options. I see how the eternity spinning option is very nice in some circumstances. But the other option is kind of harder one to get used to, you have to use a little force to scroll, and its a noisy one. I suppose the rubber makes it better than the metal wheel they had before. The strong point with Logitech is the macro and all different buttons you can assign etc. Their beast on that. Not sure about this yet, but it seams as you can combine a G-shift key if you have logitech G keyboard. You can have that one G key on your logitech keyboard double the amount of functions you mouse have. Say you hit that G key, then the side key on your mouse get another function as you have programmed it. If you release that G key, your back to your standard functions. If that so, its genius. The battery last forever, several days. Do you forget charging, you just connect the usb charger wire to your mouse, and it is like a wired mouse while you charging. Its charged from the usb on the computer. What I cant understand is why dont every mouse makers make the right click a little more firm, then you actually could rest your fingers on the right click button without risking clicking it with an accident all the time. Its like you need to hold your fingers up to make it lighter, because if you relax your finger on it you risk clicks the right button. The left click button is just fine as it is. You can do a home solution to get the right click button more firm. Stick a paper, not to tick or to thin, under the right click button to firm the right click button more. Get the right thickness and its not to hard hitting the right click button, and the same time you can actually rest your longest finger on the button.
I love the g502 and have Maine’s it for almost 3 years now. The main problem I have with it is not being Able to bind the scroll wheel up and down to specific keys. I scroll up to jump in games and some games don’t allow for scroll wheel jumping. I used to be able to bind scroll wheel to a key with my deathadder to usually get around this issue. But the ergonomics and utility of the g502 is unparalleled imo.
As a long time infinite scroll wheel user, i feel like the older solid metal design is way more relaible ive had many issues with the g900/903 scroll wheel failing over time(ive gotten like 2 or 3 at this point because i cant use anything else anymore), i used to use a g502 before and the scroll wheel was way more reliable
Good video as usual. It's interesting how far wireless has come. I am currently using the Basilisk, came from the 502 (swapped to try something new, not cause I wasn't satisfied), but I might try out wireless next time :)
Hi Zy, it has been a bit since you've revived a mousepad, and especially a giant one. I know you've revived the Glorious 3XL in the past, and It'd be great if you could review the Xtrfy GP2 XXL, and maybe do a side by side comparison with the two giants. Always a pleasure to see a new upload! Also looking forward to your review on the Glorious Model-O!
I have a question, its not entirely on topic but I thought your recent video would have the best chance to get a reply. When using mice which use software to modify settings (Logitech, Steelseries, etc) there is an option to save the settings to on board memory (if supported by the mouse) My question is, is there any noticeable difference between running through the software profile vs on board memory? I've always saved to memory and shut down the software because of the theoretical assumption that it would be 'faster', but I have no clear cut evidence. Love your work, looking forward to the glorious mouse review, all the best
I have the G502 Proteus Spectrum (non Hero) and use the Logitech Software (the old one, there is the new Logitech Hub to which I haven't switched yet), the main difference is if you use the onboard memory in the mouse it can't switch profiles automatically dependend on the open program or game. If you leave the Logitech software open you can have as many profiles as you want and assign as many programs to each to your liking, while onboard memory can only have 3 (or 5 on newer mice afaik) profiles but you can assign a button to switch between them. As far as performance goes theoratically it shouldn't make any difference if the usb driver or the internal memory tells the mouse the current setup. Maybe the software even works over a temporal profile on the mouse itself but thats just an assumption and I don't know if that's the case, probably also wouldn't make a difference.
I've been using the G502 ever since the Core came out and this kinda fixes all the problems I had with that mouse, the weight and the cable, sure it's still pretty heavy but it's nice to seem some improvement there.
Is Model O that good? As rocketninja said there should be 2 kinds of mouse - for general use and for competitve fps gaming. Which type is the Model O ?
@@spicysebago661 For real? I will take a look at it. I have big hands and I am a palm user so mouses like the G403 or Razer Deathadder are my favourite ones!
I have a Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury, and if that mouse ever breaks I'm getting a G502. I love the design, fitting my hand well and those 2 buttons on the side of M1 is great on many games, as I don't like to take my hands off WASD for actions (I even reload by clicking the mousewheel, lol).
All logitech wireless mice develop double click problems within weeks or months. I've been through 6 g900 and g903. Something in this technology ruins the switches. Stay away from them. In short any wired mouse is superior to a wireless logitech double frustrating clicking mouse. Currently rocking a g203 wired and i love it. Oh and just preordered a model 0 :)
1st Gen g502 for over 4 years now. No click issues on this or the G9 and G9x or MX1000 I had before it. Not sure what your problem is. Oh and wireless is so close to wired in terms of latency that it's actually a better trade off to lose the cable, which always has a small impact on the freedom of mouse movement, even with a bungie.
@@RJMin2 Search on youtube also "G903 double click issue (2 months of use)", in the comments a guy said "I had the same issue. I completely powered off the mouse, removed the powerplay charger adapter and clicked the buttons for about 30 seconds to drain the switches of built up static electricity. The wireless mouses seem to build up static electricity after awhile and it interferes with the click registration of the switches. So far it has worked for me."
I want that G502 lightspeed scroll wheel on the G502 Proteus Spectrum... the metal like scroll wheel gives off a paint or something coming off ( maybe due to sweat/ moisture).
Been a G502 user for over 3 years and have gone through 2 of them. Ironically this video and your GPW review has inspired me to give the GPW a try. Any advice for substituting the key bindings I had on g502? I just always found those easier to use than keystrokes.
You can use normal micro-B cable if the connector is not too bulky, but I get why they want you to use the included cable - it protect the connector when charging and using the mouse at the same time due to the tight fit.
I just wish they made the exact same mouse but slightly wider and with a rest for the ring and pinky finger on the right side similar to the thumb rest on the left.

Logitech views on plastics and the environment has sealed the deal with me on purchasing this mouse.
Proprietary cable? really LOGITECH? Not using USB-C in the current year?
if you touch the micro usb they kill you with their micro smg
I wouldn't be surprised if a USB cable with a small enough head would fit just fine.
@@1Jack22 Probably because that mouse uses Huano switches, which don't usually have double click issues.
its not the switch per say as ive understood the issue but the compatibility of the switch with the pcb voltages that is cousing most of the double click issues, basically the board is running the switches out of spec. There is a good video explaining it but i forgot the creator
I've had my G500 for 6 years now and no major issues so far. I've got to say, their quality is high up there.
I love Logitech, great mice and great people.
They do have good customer service.
Shmojoe14 lmao I’ve never even had to contact customer service, all the Logitech products I own have lasted 3+ years
Percy Jackson I’ve only had to deal with them from my own stupidity haha. I lost the cover for the bottom of my 502 and they sent a replacement no charge
damn nice I really hope they do the g402 wireless and lighter too
Fantastic review! I'm considering buying this now
Now you can buy a brick without a string attached to it, only $150
Some people prefer a heavier mouse
If the g502 is one of the best selling mouse of all time then do you really think everyone cares about a light mouse
@@tonyoles2714 I don't think they do, I think they just tell themselves that. I used to be someone that thought they liked heavier mice until I got more competitive and saw how objectively limiting it was.
@@kami3449 It just means there's a lot of casual gamers.
King Barney I have 4 mice, 3 being light and I can aim the best with the g502
Nice review as usual !
Was waiting for this vid!
Good to know logitech is aware of the environment :)
Glad 1 person in the comments also cares that they care.
I wish i could see more of your videos.
I got a good mice, but still watching and enjoying your videos.
I use the g 402 for over 2 years and I am happy with it.Wireless seem tempting but I will just use this one until it breaks.
Just bought the g502 hero and now this comes out
Love your videos.
Really impressed with Logitech's response to you.
Their response?
@@RocketJumpNinja to your inquiry on their plastic use
Oh yeah the plastic thing is awesome, but they told me they were doing something with recycling and I just asked for more info. Really cool that they took the initiative to get onto the issue, hopefully more big companies follow their lead.
@@RocketJumpNinja Really cool that you took interest in my comment. Hopefully more big youtubers follow your lead. :D
I just want your guys opinion on this:
I talked with a guy and he said that the g502 Hero had a weight of 161 grams because you are supposed to take the weight of the cable and the mouse to find the weight, i disagreed.
Can't wait for MX518 lightspeed and 80grams and 60h of use :))
Always assuming the MX518 sells good enough to justify the release of such a model.
I’ll buy 3x , if they release it ^_^
518 is such a doodoo shape tbh
@arse For some reason I can't get used to wireless. I've gotten so accustomed to wire drag that my aim actually suffers when I don't have it. Feelsbadman
Is the MX518 really that good? Better shape than all of Logitech's new mice ?
This dude makes dope reviews
I feel like this was one of the largest requests ever from logitech.
Wireless g303 is also a big request
Have you considered making a video about paracord cable mods?
Yees pls
There's nothing to say about paracord cable, what do you wanna know ? Except that they're fucking worth it
As a long time infinite scroll wheel user, i feel like the older solid metal design is way more relaible
ive had many issues with the g900/903 scroll wheel failing over time(ive gotten like 2 or 3 at this point because i cant use anything else anymore), i used to use a g502 before and the scroll wheel was way more reliable
yes, finally i have been waiting for this forever
Good video as usual. It's interesting how far wireless has come. I am currently using the Basilisk, came from the 502 (swapped to try something new, not cause I wasn't satisfied), but I might try out wireless next time :)
I came from a basilisk and got myself a roccat kone pure. Favorite mouse I've used
Hi Zy, it has been a bit since you've revived a mousepad, and especially a giant one.
As always, thanks for your content 😍👍
Amazing review keep up the videos
I've been using the G502 ever since the Core came out and this kinda fixes all the problems I had with that mouse, the weight and the cable, sure it's still pretty heavy but it's nice to seem some improvement there.
Same price as GPW
Please put down the price mr logitech.
me don't wanna pay $150 for mouse.
Mavolant u save money for model o
Is Model O that good? As rocketninja said there should be 2 kinds of mouse - for general use and for competitve fps gaming. Which type is the Model O ?
Aikano9 completely different intended market for each mice though
Get a regular 502 for 40 on sale or just buy the 903 which is much better imo
Might need one for competitive rts ,tho expensive af
I hope they will release Logitech G403 Light speed!
Moo Moo that’s the G703
@@spicysebago661 For real? I will take a look at it. I have big hands and I am a palm user so mouses like the G403 or Razer Deathadder are my favourite ones!
As a pro fortnite player I am GEEKING to get this, I would honestly pay $300 for it, I can’t possibly be more exited rn
A g502 to play fortnite it's perfect for binding buildings to the mouse, but playing in 400dpi it's better with a lighter mouse
Had g502 and g403 dual mouse setup, this is perfect.
They could've probably made G502 under 100g if it wasn't wireless. Still a great advancement
I've got some bad news friend
I just bought one for my Christmas Present :D
Hey Zy would u ever consider asking Logitech to renew their gaming keypads in particular the g13
Oh and just preordered a model 0 :)
theagrafiotis unlucky ive had the g pro wireless for about 6 months and no problems as of right now
1st Gen g502 for over 4 years now. No click issues on this or the G9 and G9x or MX1000 I had before it. Not sure what your problem is. Oh and wireless is so close to wired in terms of latency that it's actually a better trade off to lose the cable, which always has a small impact on the freedom of mouse movement, even with a bungie.
@@RJMin2 Check the reviews on amazon for the logitech powerplay wireless mice. Double clicking problems everywhere.
@@RJMin2 Search on youtube also "G903 double click issue (2 months of use)", in the comments a guy said
"I had the same issue. I completely powered off the mouse, removed the powerplay charger adapter and clicked the buttons for about 30 seconds to drain the switches of built up static electricity. The wireless mouses seem to build up static electricity after awhile and it interferes with the click registration of the switches. So far it has worked for me."
I'm reading more comments in that video and i find countless people with double clicking problems on logitech's wireless mice.
Cant wait for the glorious odin review
Oh, that's hot. can't wait to pick this up.
I tried a lot of mice and G502 was the winner until I tried Air58 and boy the lightweight makes a huge difference
Ej boi i bought the g pro wireless bcause the description was like looking at my hand. IT IS THE BEST MOUSE I HAVE EVER TOUCHED so thx zy
ngl just saying that they're not using PVC would've been adequate instead of the long semi-PR speech, but great from you to point it out
Fingers crossed for g600 hero wireless
I want that G502 lightspeed scroll wheel on the G502 Proteus Spectrum... the metal like scroll wheel gives off a paint or something coming off ( maybe due to sweat/ moisture).
Mate I have many mice and I don’t need one but I just love to watch ur video
the problem is that we need a bigger powerplay mousepad.
the only one available is insanely small...
sic e Bae I’ve made a custom extended powerplay mat it’s pretty sweet
Been a G502 user for over 3 years and have gone through 2 of them. Ironically this video and your GPW review has inspired me to give the GPW a try. Any advice for substituting the key bindings I had on g502? I just always found those easier to use than keystrokes.
im hyped to order my model O on monday.
You can use normal micro-B cable if the connector is not too bulky, but I get why they want you to use the included cable - it protect the connector when charging and using the mouse at the same time due to the tight fit.
i wish all reviews were like this.
bro finding a good mouse is a struggle
finding the right mouse is a struggle* ; good mice are everywhere these days. plenty to choose from
I just wish they made the exact same mouse but slightly wider and with a rest for the ring and pinky finger on the right side similar to the thumb rest on the left.
When it comes to mouse reviews this is the place to be.
