Nice job Walt! It’s a shame C&NW isn’t around anymore because of UP. They were acquired around the same time BNSF was formed, as in they were involved in the “super merger” era back then. We lost a lot of great railroads over the years because of these mega-mergers, but it was really the only way they could survive and didn’t have a choice. I think if BNSF didn’t happen, Santa Fe would have likely been acquired by UP and maybe BN as well. As well know before the BNSF merger, Santa Fe tried to merge with Southern Pacific and even came out with an official paint scheme for when it was approved. It sucks the ICC rejected it though. SP would likely still be around if they were managed better and didn’t buy it I so many assets, because the way they went out was similar to Penn Central’s decline. Oh, and nice to see those GP40X units!
