He was such a Consummate Genius. His "Sky Viewing Sculpture" is at the university in my Hometown, I have enjoyed it immensely since I was a teenager. Everytime I see it it becomes something new, and reveals something to me about viewing the world. I think that was the idea behind the sculpture, at least in part - but I feel that way about all his Work. Among (many) other things.

It wasn’t mentioned that he was invited to a village in Japan that mostly made religious paper lanterns. The demand for such items had declined and Noguchi was asked to revitalize the paper lantern form in order to rebuild their economy and preserve their craftsmanship. This was a significant expression of doing good through art.

I fondly look back on the esteemed Noguchi visiting our department back in grad school. A worthwhile mentor.

In 1926 Noguchi saw and exhibition in New York by Constantine Brancusi that profoundly changed his artistic direction. This happened to us all in some way or another. Endless columns; forever.

Some moons ago, I sat in a library waiting area on UT campus, waiting for my girlfriend to get off work. Someone left his biography on a chair. I picked it up, and couldn't put it down, checked it out and read it the next day. Left a mark on the way I approach life, and moreso when my music came to life, unexpectedly, some years later.

perfect example of why art is sometimes overrated....this art production is very low key..no need to eye brow the whole thing....just look 12.19...!!!

If by that you mean a brilliant mind and incredible imagination able to bring into this world imagery that has incredible beauty and benefits to humans... If that's ridiculous .. you're Right!!
