- Indian film and theatre actor, music director, lyricist, singer, scriptwriter Piyush Mishra explains his deep, heart-felt and immortal bond that he shares with charismatic revolutionary and martyr Bhagat Singh in this TEDx talk. By sharing amazing and mind boggling life instances of Bhagat Singh, Piyush Mishra reflects the fact how less we know about this super handsome, dramatic and intellectual Shaheed-e-Azam. Piyush Mishra conceives the fact that his affection and devotion for Bhagat Singh has led him very close to the idea of self exploration and patriotism. Piyush Mishra started his career in Hindi theatre in Delhi after graduating from National School of Drama, Delhi in 1986. He is acclaimed for his acting in Maqbool (2003) , Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and Pink (2016). As a film lyricist and singer, he is noted for his songs “Arre Ruk Ja Re Bandeh” (Black Friday, 2004), “Aarambh Hai Prachand” (Gulaal, 2009), “Ik Bagal” (Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2, 2012), and “Husna” (MTV Coke Studio, 2012). He is also an acclaimed Dialogue Writer and Poet. His career is of over 3 Decades with major contribution to Movies, Short Films and Literary Societies in India. I have read a decent amount of literature on the great legend - Bhagat Singh. He will always be an inspiration in my life. In this narration Piyush Mishraji has done a marvellous job of describing Bhagat Singh's life and his philosophy. He has touched upon a few but certainly very essential elements of his thinking.
As he mentions in this video itself, he was not able to do complete justice to the character in his award winning movie as a writer 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh'.
Actually, i feel the movie which comes closest in properly potraying not only Bhagat Singh but Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajguru, Sukhdev and Durga Bhabhi was 'Rang de Basanti'. We should never forget these names as all of them and more contributed immensely for the country. That was true Secularism!
Lastly, Kartar Singh Sarabha (Bhagat Singh's hero) was just around 17-18 years old when he was hanged. They say from the time of sentencing to his hanging his weight actually increased by 5 kgs. He was happy that he was going to be hanged for his country!

The movie Legend of Bhagat Singh hit a cord with me when I saw it the first time. Since then I have seen it many times and each time I have watched this movie it has changes me fundamentally from the inside, cell by cell.
I cry every time I think of bhagat Singh,so much of bravery and courage he had makes me wonder sometimes that he was God who came to earth for a purpose.,
