From our experience only a dealer can program a ECU, You may be able to find an ECU from a salvage yard but it may not be programmed correctly for your type of truck.
You have to see if they are the same hardware number on the ECU. If they are the same then you can use it. I think you can check with the dealer if you give them your vin number. Hope this helps! .

Yes the Engine ECU needs to be reprogrammed with Volvo Premium Tech Tool. This will reinstall the original file to the ECU. If you plan to reuse an ECM from another truck then you would still need to reprogram due to the configurations. Let us know if you need anything else!
Fuel will leak out not antifreeze... It is cooled by a fuel line. So no need to worry about it once you disconnect it. Just make sure you replace / reinstall the copper washers.

@@johnysilver1853 A brand new one will need to be reprogrammed if it's straight from the dealer. You can try to see if your unit starts after installation. If it does not start then you need to program it using Tech Tool. I still recommend doing a reprogram because all of your stored values off your existing VIN or ECM is flashed to your chassis ID per vehicle spec. Let us know if you need any other help!

We wouldn't be able to give you an exact price as every truck is different. We recommend contacting a couple different shops and see what they would charge.

Sorry, The diagnostics tool is currently only available for Semi Trucks.

Hi Jose, We wouldn't recommend it as they changed the electrical systems in 2007 and they are very different compared to a 2002 truck.

No it can't run because of the Electronic Fuel System that is controlled by the ECU. Hope this helps!
