    My son just underwent his Hemi Fontan procedure for HLHS. I got to watch them do a bubble study. I took a video of the echo on my phone and you can see the bubbles rush in. It was very cool.
    My son has a smaller left PA and was displaying PH in the OR, with a measurement of 25 to 27. It immediately responded to nitric oxide so we are hoping his hypertension was due to lung damage from a combination of two cold viruses.
    I really would love to learn more about this.

      This is really late but did your son just have mild pulmonary hypertension because of a virus? I got diagnosed with it today and am really worried

    mPAP at effort is not used anymore, that was the 2003 Evian-Venice convention. Since the 2008 Dana Point convention just mPAP at rest is used, in which case the patient has got PH at >25 mmHg mPAP and 20-25 mmHg is borderline.

    Did an echocardiogram and findings said i have mild pulmonary hypertension with 33mmhg and trivial pericardial effusion. I’m 26 yo and 39 weeks pregnant. My cardiologist doesn’t seem to be concerned since he didn’t call me about the results and the tech said MD will call me if there’s a concern and no calls if everything is ok. Ugh.

    Having been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension I have been prescribed seldinafile and litaras. I've been on them now for over six months and the results are absolutely positive! I just learned that litarus will be going genaric in about six months. Currently my copay for that drug is $2780/month...this is great news

    Could the feeling of not being able to catch your breath be a tiny blood clot that doesn't show up on regular x-ray? All my d-dimers turn out positive. They hospitalized me for tests the first two times it showed up. Now they ignore it when it's positive. But I do have a lot of breathing issues and sharp pain in my lungs.

    I don’t get the periphral edema and pulsatile liver, is it because of right sided heart failure?

    • @gonzaloolivera1954
      @gonzaloolivera1954 4 роки тому +2

      Yes, if am not mistaken it goes like this: Increase in PAH causes dilatation and hypertrophy of RV leading to increase pressure in RA causing congestive heart failure. This will cause a disruption in normal bloodflow from SVC which will increase blood volume and systemic vascular resistance leading to the edema and the liver issues

    I know this is for professionals (I’m an old retired nurse, hey!), but I’m here to learn all I can as my recent Echo indicated PH. I know I’ll get a Cardiology consult for a RHC; but while my pcp is on vacation, I’m soaking up information. Other than Fibromyalgia, chronic Lymes, and the old back injury issues, I’ve always been healthy so it’s scary to hear I might have issues like this.
    I might add I’m a little bothered by the fact that during my ICU rotation many moons ago, the nurse was obtaining a routine wedge pressure and the artery dissected. The Cardiologist happened to be right there and he ordered Versed to ease the patient as he left this world. So, yeah, I’m a little apprehensive about wedge time!
