- What should you put in your youtube description box? Does it even matter to help you get more views on UA-cam!? Let's dive into that!
Underestimated as it is, your description box on UA-cam is THE most important thing to pay attention to and optimize to rank in search if you want to get views on UA-cam and grow your youtube channel. Your UA-cam description box is what tells viewers and the UA-cam algorithm what your video is about and what kinds of viewers to recommend your video to!

I fluctuate back and forth with my description box between keeping it simple and keeping complicated 🤣 But finding the default upload was a life saver for me for sure!!! 🙃💕🇨🇦

Since tags aren't relevant anymore? UA-cam recommends you put at least 250 words in the description to essentially REPLACE the tag section of your videos. Don't leave it blank because that'll just lower your chances of having effective UA-cam SEO. Goodluck everyone!

this begs the question: why not just copy and re-paste your title at the beginning of your description, and then paste your tags after that. It would feed the algorithm as you suggest, and save a ton of time. Thoughts?

Annie thank you for your tips. I would say that the first three lines in your description is important. Be sure to include what the video is about with a natural flow of keywords. People typically check out the first part of your description.

NOTE about timestamps/chapters. For a long time I couldn't figure out why my timestamps were not showing up as sections on the video progress bar. It turns out you MUST have a 00:00 timestamp in your description for this to show up. Cheers!

Could you do a video on why youtube takes away Subscribers, views and likes? It's been happening to me alot and it's very annoying
They could be fake.
Yeah!!
UA-cam doesn't really 'take away' subscribers and views. If you lose subscribers it's because they unsubscribed, which you can see in your analytics. And for views after your video has been up for 24 hours UA-cam sweeps views that don't watch more than a certain amount of seconds x
@@anniedube oh ok! I know some people told me that youtube takes away your Subscribers... It makes it hard to grow when people unsubscribe ☹️

Do you think timestamps are still a good idea if your content is more entertainment based? Or are Timestamps only good for videos that are for educating?
P.S. I love the feel of your videos. I’ve watched a few different creators that give UA-cam tips over the years, and I love how you give them in a way that feels more like a friend telling me than a teacher. Most likely for a lot of people on UA-cam, it starts out as a passion project.
I think it's just something everyone has to try for themselves and decide for their own channels x

You are really a life saver when it comes to growing channels
This video popped up in my UA-cam feed about 20 minutes after I published my first video in what was an age! ))) I was aware of the config where you can set default content, but never really had much to put in there, but will definitely set it up shortly. I am going to work out what I want it to be and put it into notepad as you mentioned and then paste it at the bottom of all my old videos (for social network links etc.), as well as set it as default.
I've got the art of making the videos down to a "T" - but the promotion side of things where I am not actually paying for it is all new to me... So thanks a million for your videos! ;)

Fantastic comment as usual. I also have to tell you, after watching your video about "Tags" not being important anymore. I tried it for myself and wow it's true. As long as you do a good description, you definitely don't need tags. Just goes to show how smart Algorithms are getting.

Excellent video, thanks. I've always thought adding timestamps would hurt my watch time because people would just skip to a particular section of the video and I wouldn't have a chance at all of them watching another part they might find interesting as well.
