Thanks for the video. I am working on replacing the filter on my Rav4 right now. So far I only took the air filter box and the overflow only. I am keeping the rest intact. I separated the air filter box from the large intake hose immediately adjacent to it. Right now I am going to the parts store to get 14mm line wrench and some antifreeze.
Wow,, they must have really changed the engine compartment from 2000 to 2001. I wanted to see how to do this on my 2001 Rav4, but its completely different under the hood.
Wow. I'm a female and don't know a lot about cars. I have a 99 and this looks way too complicated for me to try myself. I'm amazed all these people saying it didn't take long and wasn't difficult. Looks like a lot of disconnecting. I guess at least it's not under the back seat in an awkward place like my other car I had.
So Toyota lists two fuel filters for this, different prices and part numbers except one says “No. 1” and the other No. 2” any idea how to find out which I need?
Hi there... I really enjoyed watching your video. It was spot on!! I SHOULD of watched it before yesterday. Yesterday we had a problem changing the Fuel Filter and my Rav4 does NOT started anymore following my instructor's direction. 1st. We did disconnect the EFI 15 amp fuse and run the engine till run out of petrol (stop-to release pressure). You explained to take off 1st the bolt at the top to release fuel pressure. (make sense- goo/thanks) 2nd we make space ( as you did) 3rd we started to disconnect the filter from the bottom. At the END we replaced the Fuel Filter, and tried to turn ON the engine and NOTHING. What do you think could gone wrong? We shouldn't disconnect the fuse and run the engine till stop? We checked Volt-Run and all its ok as it is the battery too. Now they say it might be my starter switch, but all was running well before this. Any suggestions? Yes, finally we make the car run ... but direct from the ST fuse only. Thanks. Fonz
Having some issues with my 98 Rav4 which seem like lack of fuel. Previous owner said it would occasionally cut out and after a few minutes would re start again. I had it happen once when I first bought it from him, it restarted fine. Then one day it died and hasn't run since. Spraying easy start straight in the carb gets it going for a few mins then stops again. I'm guessing fuel starvation is likely the issue. Looking to replace the fuel filter as in your video. Do you need to bleed it at all or does it do that on it's own?
Thanks for the well done video! Very professional and easy to follow. How did you determine that the fuel filter needed replacement? (rough idle, engine cutting out, OBD2 code)
why is location of the fuel filter hidden one ,is it because we replace the fuel filter after long time, say for example after 10 yeas / 65000k/m, please explain. I was seeking for 2004 model as this is for 2000. Thank you in advance. F.B
There is a reason why the fuel filter is hiden as it is- the manufacturer does not WANT you to change it. Changing the fuel filter is an obsolete action these days pretty much; no one greases chasis anymore either.
I know this an old post but you are the man! Saved me a ton of reading for my 1999 rav4. Thank you
friend you make good content. I congratulate you, you contributed a lot to everyone who watches your videos
Thanks man, this was a lifesaver.
Just finished doing this on my suv thanks for the Video helped alot
Just got one of these bad boys and working on replacing some stuff. Thank you!!!

Thanks a ton!! Changed mine today, didn't take long at all.

Thank you so much. Doing this today. Wish me luck!
This was very helpful, though there was no advice as to how to stop the fuel coming out whilst changing it? I used blu tac

Very informative.

I had same issue and I replace the fuel pump and the fuel filter...

What's the part number for the filter? A bit hard to see on camera. I would appreciate it a lot if you could provide that to me!
stupid question but does this apply to 99 toyota rav4 too?
I have a 98 and had the same question. I think the answer is yes judging by the location of the components in engine compartment.
@@danarello2563 changing on a 99 today
1996 - 2000 Rav4s have similar engine compartments (same generation) -- starting 2001, new generation and many changes. .
Thanks for the video!
How did u relieve the fuel pressure mate?
+Mario Carino Pull the fuse for efi in fuse box directly above filter
pull the fuse while the car is running, the engine will die of fuel starvation, and there will be little to no pressure when you break lose the banjo
Did u disconnect battery ........first
Why would someone put a fuel filter in that location???
Tks.....

I CAN NOT GET THE BOTTOM UNSCREWED
Is this really 2000 Toyota Rav4? Engine looks very different!!!
where is the speedo meter sensor located in 3SFE 2.0l auto transmission
I thought the exact same thing, this does not look like my rav4 engine.
This is a RAV4.1, 1994-2000, you probably have a RAV4.2
Maybe it's a California car. Seems to have more emission related gubbins than my simpler UK model.
