Its a standalone mini orchestra of fully customizable samples at your fingertips. If you've got a sound sample, you can turn it into a song with this little guy.
I really loved mine. I could never get the program to properly interface with my device but wasn't sure if it was an issue with Windows. I found a neat hack where you plug a midi cable from the "midi in" to the "midi out" and it lets you control both the "sample" mode and the "keyboard" mode at the same time. Was fun for playing some experimental stuff on the fly. I feel Korg was so close with this keyboard and if they made a modern sleeker revision I would be all on it
@@boimesa8190 sure, basically I was using the keyboard to control itself. Sending the midi out signal back into it's own midi in would trigger whatever was set to channel 1 so you could set the sample mode (which plays individual samples per key) and the keyboard mode (which is a single sample that you selected played by all keys at the corresponding pitches of the keyboard) to channel 1 as well and control both mode simultaneously. You'd think this would be a built in feature but the only way I could ever get this work was by running a midi cable into itself
Korg micro sampler2 Would work even if they didn't bother modifying anything, but just simply allowed each bank to have a gig of ram. And if they wanted to spend some money revitalizing it perhaps a better screen with a lot more info on it. And a slot for memory card or USB stick

That is a cute writing tool. Ensoniq used logarhithmic data with linear interpolated error correction and linear phase, to give "real life" sound. They have had no competition in 40 years. Ensoniq would make an amazing "Wha had happened was..." video.
Really do love it! ...but, on the other hand, NO MID-SAMPLE LOOP POINTS for sustaining chromatic samples is unforgivable. But, that's about the only thing I would change. (Kinda wish it had a pitch bend wheel, too, but that's not a deal-breaker). Modern-day SK-1 / SK-5.
This would have made a good companion keyboard/sampler. Let's say you had a synth with good bread and butter sounds, decent editing and a decent key bed. Coupled with this you'd have a rich full featured workstation. Kinda like how people would couple a Korg Trinity with an MPC back in the day.

What are you guys using as an Operating System to run the Editor Software? My newer Mac Laptop will not run the software without crashing all the time.
Yes sir..That was a bit of a cheat code to get around the microsampler only allowing you to use the piano keyboard part once per sequence.. You can sample two octaves of a sound lets say an octave of a bass sound and a octave of string sounds on the sample keyboard section while having your regular samples take up the last octave..Then use the full piano keyboard section to play another melody..It kinda made up for the microsampler not having a rompler.
Yeah..Well the keyboard mode actually plays what ever sample is on the key the dial is on..So what ever sample you load on a key you can play..So you can keep uploading new samples to play. Its just that you can only use one sample at a time when on the keyboard mode..To get around that when your finished playing what ever your playing on the keyboard mode you have to resample it on one of the 36 keys..Then clear the keyboard mode and sample something else to play on it.
