Somewhere out there, there's a guy (or gal) with 3 or 4 Cruis'n seats and no cabinets, just praying someone comes along to buy them. Nicely done, Joe.

Same. My fad and I played crusin the world on the N64 for hours at a time.we counted how many segments each of us won. I miss my dad. He brought me into the arcade world. Got me interested in repairing pinball and arcade games. I'm thinking of getting back in. You have rekindled my interest.

I know it’s frustrating when you can’t repair something. I absolutely hate part swapping . But sometimes it’s all you can do . Micro soldering is tricky stuff. Need a microscope just to be able to see . And without schematics it’s even harder . You did good Joe! Great video , keep em coming!

Ha Joe. I know what you meant about surface mount components. Thay were a real eye opener when I first saw them. A relation was fixing the remote key fob for a car. I couldn’t get my head round how small they were and no wires sticking out the ends. He just laughed and said that things were going to get smaller and he was so right. So iam with you prefer the older stuff. Great work another one going. 👍. Bob

Seeing all your videos I'm so sad I dont live in the USA to buy some of your pinball & arcade machines. Overseas they're way more rare & expensive, hard to get repaired and shipping them (at least the pinball machines) from the US is asking for problems too. Even in the Arcade Hall I visited this weekend 20% was broke 😢

It says Nintendo on it because Nintendo and Midway worked on the hardware together. Eugene Jarvis, the guy who programmed Defender also programmed all of the Cruis'n arcade games, afaik.

I love that you don't just repair stuff, you take the time to restore things and do it right. Shame about the other board, but yeah those surface mount components are a huge pain to deal with. Some day I'll buy some junk boards and learn how to do it properly before trying it on something I care about.

Zeus II hardware using a TMS320 DSP and FPGA-based geometry engine- very expensive way of doing things but that's what you had to do back then to get that kind of performance. I say get rid of the silly fan- it will run just fine without it.

My guess is that the LCD was installed because of the CRT died and CRT replacements were no longer available. So it was probably cheaper to install a CGA/ EGA to VGA (or HDMI) converter and install an LCD computer monitor.

quick question. Why didn't you just use the cabinet in the truck? You had the seat for it with this one? Just an observation. Not being snarky or anything, but couldn't you get more money if it was in the "parts" cabinet? Seeing that it was an exotica game in a cruisin' cabinet maybe I just don't understand? Great job though.

..... it's an Hp... That's the self destructing monitor.... The polarizer film on that range of monitors has a tendency to age out and fall apart. So even if you played around and test the game the Monitor either needs to be refilmed or replaced. To refilm it you'd have to hunt for the right polarized window tint that you'd put on a car to fix it if you wanted to fix the monitor and still use it. Otherwise find your local e-waste disposal company and send it.
edit: The HP logo gives you a date range of when the product was made. (Hp used that logo from 06-14) and the older monitors had the polarizer flaking off for years.

That great big fan, once the back is put back on you won't hear it. Even if you do, they sell replacement fans that are quieter, or just get some foam padding and add it to the inside of the machine to muffle it. In a noisy arcade, nobody is going to hear it anyway.
