Just when you think you seen it all you manage to pull another rabbit out of the hat. Love the fact the fdny is well equipped. thanks again for all the work you put intofleet Friday.
i was about to say the same thing
Thanks! I try very hard to get these videos!
Im trying to think what units are left. Skyler are u only doing Fire side of Dept. Would u branch out to EMS vehicles
I have a good 10 videos I am working on! It’s just been so cold 🥶so it’s been hard to do. EMS I am working on it but not sure yet! Let me finish fire side first.
@@SkylerFire I’m not really into EMS my mind this blown by the size of FDNY fleet and different type of vehicles.
i did mechanic in college, i work as a Transportation operator for my Company
and interested in FDNY. My main interest and love to know more about inside of Fleet services.
The FDNY is prepared for all contingencies. This is magnificent. Thanks for this worthy addition to Fleet Friday.
Enjoy!
It’s all born out of heartache pain and blood of others. If I remember right they got the high axle units after losing so many vehicles after hurricane sandy from the storm surge. The front line apparatus would basically drown from the high water level and then rescue of civilians would be stopped. Unfortunately like most things it takes a disaster to learn for the future!!!
the fdny is nothing but a bunch of tax eating rats.
Skyler … outstanding job on this and all the Fleet Fridays . Most of us only know the usual apparatus, but you having access to all these obscure units is great. Keep up the good work
Thanks so much!
I can’t wait until skyler does the collapse units!!!
Skyler once again you’re fleet Friday was informative

My pleasure!

Thanks me too!
Very interesting thank you stay safe

Best one yet
Thanks
Interesting vehicles. Thanks.
You bet
Nice
Thanks
What do you think about doing a video on the FDNY museum on Spring street? Great place to visit filled with so much history of the Fdny, highly recommend going if anyone gets the chance.
Can’t film in there. Thanks
Hoping to see the SCUBA rig next!
It’s not a full time unit. It’s for training only.
Very nice, god bless the members of the fdny.
Collapse unit???
Another great presentation. Are they all kept in one location or are they scattered between the 5 boros. Thanks Skyler.
They rotate them between here and a con Ed yard
Thanks!@@SkylerFire
I would like some information on the R.A.C. trucks that work a lot of fires in the cities and burrows of NEW York.
Watch the fleet Friday on the RAC unit
The HA rig is tough...
Yup
Skyler, how times a year do the Hi Axles respond, a year? The FDNY needed these trucks, ever since Hurricane Sandy. 👍👍👍Another Great Fleet Friday🚒
All depends on how heavy a rain or snow storm is. 2 years we didn’t get no snow. 5-10 times a year they get activated.
Skyler, have you done a fleet Friday y on a rescue? If so do you have the link. Thank you.
Soon !
Any clue how long it takes for the boats to inflate? Definitely need these monsters for the rain/snow storms we get.
3 minutes
@@SkylerFire That's Awesome
Can you do a video on the Fire Marshals truck
Working on it
Where do they keep these at in Brooklyn?
They are kept in queens at a coned yard. They bring them to Rescue Deployment Center when being activated
When they call for OT personnel, is it first come first on or do they have specific personnel they have on dial or is it a rotation of everyone?
Rotation can’t call the same person every time. Also if they are working on Rescue OR squad the day or night before they might be asked to stay for the next tour.
Are most tours 24 or how many hours?@@SkylerFire
@@scootertrash911 FDNY has 2 Tours.
0900-1800
1800-0900
They can work 24 tours tho
We used to do 48hrs on then 96 off in Nevada, and for a call back when a strike team was ordered (mostly wild land fires) dispatch had a rotating schedule for who to call. If they called you, you had the choice to decline and no matter what you would not be rotated back for at least six months unless a major disaster occurred. I really liked the 48 on rather than FDNY nine hour shifts. You could go on vacation after shift or most had a second business that they could work. You made a lot of money to retire early off of!
@@SkylerFire FDNY rescue and squad companies members are recruited by the company officer’s right? You can’t just be assigned from the academy right away???
How many high axle trucks do they have and which boroughs gets more coverage?
6 trucks. 1 per Boro. Very rare for all 6
There are 5 boroughs, so which one has the 6th rig?
Usually Brooklyn….
I see.
FDNY really do have every type of vehicle u can think of.
Sorry u may of said it but how offer are these vehicles are used during a yearly period.
If not used so much its sad to think they just sit there wasting away.
5-10 times a year on average. It all depends on how much snow and heavy rain.
When you need one then they are priceless, and if you don’t have it then you’re in trouble!!!
Were these created after Sandy?
Possible yes
What's the purpose of the hose and nozzle on such a piece? They don't have a pump and any incident they'd go on would probably have multiple other apparatus better equipped to handle any incident needing a hose.
Yes hoses float!!! Also makes a great boom in a pinch if you’re trying to stop a fluid like oil from spreading until hazmat can get the proper equipment out!!!
@@robertschultz6922 Wouldn’t it make more sense and take up less space to use water rescue rope? What benefit does a hose have over rope and why doesn’t any other type of water rescue piece use hose? (Not trying to be an asshole here, just genuinely curious).
@@bobbybechtel4396
Look up hose inflator swiftwater …I believe it will answer your questions on hose vs. rope use in swift water rescues…

WHEN IS THE FLEET FRIDAY
Feb 2nd they are very 2 weeks for now
FDNY tries to play country dress-up😂😂
AXLE
Thanks! Typo!
High Axle?
Yes?
@@SkylerFire I can only guess that reason for these high axle units is because they respond to deep snow or severe floods.
Yes after Hurricane Sandy they needed units that can get to trapped people
This is not realy high axle. High axle means, the middle of the wheel is high, so the real free room between the road and the vehicle is significant more free than normal. To make them high you nead bigger wheels. This trucks only have a higher chassis.
Ok well that’s what it’s called
