Thank you so much, I've was diagnosed with idiopathic hypersomnia over 20yrs ago and am sincerely thankful for your hard work in trying understand and spread information about these debilitating sleep disorders. I truly loved hearing about the investigational meds and current research. This gives me hope for anyone who suffers from these diseases.

This is great information! I have narcolepsy with cataplexy and I'd volunteer for just about any new therapy they've got in order to have a [more] normal life back!!!

Hypocretin is only lower in narcolepsy 1, which is only a small fraction of total narcolepsy cases. Other problems can cause the same symptoms, like loss of function in the pineal gland.

There is a new medication called Pitolisant (Wakix) that was approved in the EU in 2016 and was fast tracked to approval in the USA. Not yet approved in Canada. Not sure whereabouts you live or where the person you are trying to help lives. Anyway, the clinical trials for this medication had promising results. Very minor side effects and improvements in EDS and cataplexy. Hope this helps!

Is the audience entirely female or are the female members of the audience just disproportionately willing to laugh for this guy? Like damn. This is not the first lecture I watch on youtube but I've never seen an audience so easily entertained. I guess it's true what they say about French accents...
