i learnt guitar on nylon, bought a new acoustic one and loving it. But after a few year of playing acoustic when i pick up my old nylon it just felt so good, idk why
nylon has a different feel on the higher registers though, gotta pull through quite a bit to make them come out nice and resonant (playing without nails anyway), physicallly less demanding, but also way more of a faff to hit the highs just right. then wheni get used to it a bit, i go back to steel and feel i gotta ease up on the G-B-E strings or they'll oversaturate the bass again :') and playing fingered on an electric is way worse when its string action is all the way down to shred town to the point it's half-dead, i like my >2mm gap on the 12, feels like a waste to me to sacrifice my fingered playing just so i can shred a bit easier and have a shittier sound that's mostly attack and nothing much else.
I have an Ovation Country Artist. Nylon strings, flat radiused 1 7/8 inch wide at the nut and the guitar plays itself. Neck is so fast but sounds so good. Had it almost three years now. Best nylon string I’ve played ever.
Classical guitars have much wider necks (more spacious) and the strings don't hurt as much to push. personally I find the extra space worse because I have to reach more, and my capo's don't fit on the neck
I played nylon guitars for around 16 years, then i discovered a friends western and i fell in love.. now i'm playing a beautiful Taylor 814ce and will never be able to go back to the nylons :)
Same, but instead of acoustic i felt in love with classical guitar. Nylon and steel strings are made for different genres and styles. Nylon for classical music, flamenco, folk. Steel for rock, metal, jazz, blues, country, western..
I'm about to turn 43 this fall. I started my guitar journy in 1991 and I bought my first steel string in 2018, but I can't get used to the narrow necks on steel strings. Could someone please build a steel string with a classic neck.
@@ledvapour6937 Well yes, to a certain degree, but if you grab a Flamenco guitar, for instance, the sound is diferent and worste quality, and it's meant to be that way, so the notes dont stay in the air so long, but at same time that they come out loud. And acustic guitars in general sound so bad compared to classical guitars.

That looks like one of the Cordoba Fusion nylon string guitars, which is a hybrid between a classical and steel string. Classical guitars typically have a 2 inch nut and a wider fretboard. The neck width on the guitar in this video appears to be smaller than a traditional classical guitar.
That's actually a Furch Grand Nylon! And while crossover guitars don't fall into the strict categorization of "classical," they do still get you the nylon sound and can be much better suited to contemporary players who are used to steel string. Everyone has their own tastes!
The nylon stringed guitars have a special growl in the lower register and a softer timbre in the higher register. When playing non classical music you get special yet familiar guitar tone that’s just pleasing to the ear 💙

Acoustic is both a name and a description. In the "naming sense" there are "Classical Guitars" and Acoustic Guitars". In the descriptive sense, yes, they are both acoustic.
Great video, this is all I actually play now. I don't play a true classical but I have two Cordoba Crossovers. A narrower nut width and radius finger board. I love nylon strings!!
Richard Smiths main axe for the past 15 years has been a Kirk Sands nylon string and Chet often played a nylon string as did Jerry Reed. They sound beautiful, especially when paired with a steel string like when Richard and Tommy Emmanuel play together.
A beautiful acoustic rendition enhanced by electronics. I play a nylon strung classical/flamenco guitar and have done so for many years. I have a special clip on pick up that collects the sound from the sound hole area and I can feed it through a ZOOM 606 pedal or a M-Audio Black Box, but, you know what? Pure Classical Acoustic Nylon Strung Output in a suitably sized auditorium is real hard to beat for living sound. Just like Vinyl is closer to 'real fee' than any digitized music currently can.
I don’t see why everybody is so narrow about what you can or cannot play. I learnt the flamenco roots on an acoustic and it does sound great but I keep hearing people, that’s not a flamenco guitar, indeed it sounds better, nylon strings aren’t really that good for strumming I do think

I switched to classical after many years of standard acoustic and electric. The sound is so warm and nice, and the strings don't wear out the skin on my fingers so I can play much more. Now I want to try something like a hollow body electric guitar with nylon strings so that I could play more rock style stuff but still have those nice strings. I guess you can't do that because of how much the nylon strings vibrate, they need more space.
The problem's more because of most electric guitars using magnetic pickups, but you do get solid body nylon string electrics with a different type of pickup built in.

Because the steel strings are way harder to press than nylon. It's like a vacation for your fingertips
yeah i felt this too after playing electric guitar before its adjusted to lower string height 😂

Well you can't, because there was a backing track.
