Nicely done! I love how you used the plumber's putty to allow the oil to SOAK into the wood up top.
Kyle Runyan Thank you! 👍
Fucking sick mate! Love everything about this, recycling your old decks, the triple wedges, a quality vintage Stanley head for 25c. You've got yourself a tool for life complete with your personality
Pablo Cruz Thank you very much! I really appreciate it!
Go on with the skateboard content, extremely absorbing to watch! That's a proper use of an old worn out boards. I would do the same to mine, if I only had the tools you own! Keep it up
Andrzej Śliwiński thank you very much. I'm not stopping any time soon. 👍
As a skateboarder a roofer and woodworker myself..that is one damn fine hammer..now I might have to go put a new handle on my old roofing hatchet with some old decks I got laying around.
Awesome! I have a couple hatchets heads laying around that iv'e been meaning to get to as well. Thank you!
Nice! You ever done any work with routers? theres been something I've been thinking of for a while now using old decks and a router
Devin k yes I've used a router to flatten pieces of decks for knife scales
Fuck yes. You sir are a genius. I love it. I'm gonna make handles for everything.
I’d sure like to buy one of those from you! Been making furniture for years and would be proud to own one!
That turned out nice Luke! 👍 Thanks for sharing!
Heath Knuckles thank you!
Good job
That turned out awesome!
Super yes. Skated wen my body could now doin old guy stuff
Your making me really really consider making one haha this looks great. Time to go to goodwill and see if I can’t pick up some colorful boards haha.
The puddy idea is worth using! I too make my own handles and your idea of containing the oil "well" is brilliant.
arboristBlairGlenn thank you!
Not in this case. BLO is thinned by mineral spirits, which can actually de-laminate the plywood.
very nice idea and job... skateboard wood is very strong
lauriie nice thank you! They are made of Maple veneers 👍
Good idea & nice
Thank you very much!
Man, great job. You should start a company making only objects with skateboard woods, and sell worldwide...
David Rachelski that'd be sick
David Rachelski
Look up a dude named haroshi. Just search haroshi used skateboard art. Thank me later.
There is a company that makes guitars out of old skate boards
Maxwell Pollville he made the trophies 🖕for BATB
Absolutely beautiful.
Back to the Basics 101 Thank you very much!
very clever
Thanks!
Killer handle. I love it .
Very nice! Especially the color pattern.
Александр Доминюк thank you very much!
Mate, good job! Can I just suggest that where you're doing the forming work with spokeshaves and rasps at what appears to be your router table, you really need to raise that surface up! You're bent over like an old man there, and if you don't find a better working position, you will be permanently bent over like an old man! Trust me, I'm an old man. ;)
haha yes, I agree I need a real workbench.
Interesting idea. Nobody will mistakenly steal your hammer!
very cool
Thank you!
Would be a great fathers day gift!

What is that little planer tool called? I cannot find it for the life of me.
its a spoke shave!
The centre wedge should be a metal stepped wedge, that way it will never come loose
Thanks for the tip. I haven't had a problem with cross wedges, but I do more often use a step wedge or two.
you are incredible your work is off the charts
hunter m LMFAO thank you very much!
Luke R. i mostly make rings but i make almost anything really out skateboards as long as there small things like necklaces and earrings and rings here's my shop www.etsy.com/shop/Shredrings?ref=search_shop_redirect
Great job
Thank you!
get yourself a good set of rasps for shaping. you will be amazed at how well they work with uneven/unpredictable grain.
hoen00 thanks for the tip! I'm always looking for an excuse to buy new tools 👍
04:50 Clamped to a sander so you could manually sand 😂😂😂👍
That handle is worth way more than that hammer head you made it for...great job on the handle.
M24A6 thank you very much!
Parabéns 👏👏👏
someone explain gravity to me. why did hitting the bottom of the hammer with a mallet make the head of the hammer go up the handle?
I think it's basically a combination of the hammer head not wanting to move due to it's inertia, the momentum of the handle after being hit, the wedge shape of the handle, and the wood yielding some to the harder metal. It's like hammering a nail into a really bouncy surface.
loved everything about it, 10 out of 10 would recommend, ill have to try it some day, i do have some old decks laying around...
Samuel Chandler thank you very much!
Man turned out Awesome - I really like the look!
IgotHeliFever thank you very much! 👍

Thank you sir
Nicely done!
Matt of Many Trades thank you sir!
NICE!!!!
LOLKING thanks!
I don't know what kind of framing you do, but I would never trust that handle on the kind of framing I do. Aside from that, you are an excellent craftsman and that is a beautiful handle!
Thank you! I don't do much framing, and I didn't make the handle with a specific purpose in mind. Regardless, I will be curious to see how long it lasts.
Thanks for the reply.
The thing about skateboard wood is the layers are usually bounded with resin (I think)so this could make for an interesting handle possibly get best of both worlds bad thing is that head isn't a framers head its a finishing or homeowners head framers hammers have flater nail puller and heavier head with a waffle pattern
Definitely not a framing hammer. And it's a vintage stamped head Stanley!
Awesome job!
frank garcia thank you!
Nice....
wow ...great video thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Good job, congrats
Carlos Valenzuela hey thank you!
GUAPÍSIMO EL MARTILLO BUENTRA BAJO
Where does everyone find the old skate boards???
A Dude skate parks/shops are a good place to start. Many skaters have no use for broken decks.
Thanks
Wow!
Lyndon Crowe thanks! 👍
How that beautiful hammer handle
Thank you very much!
What type of band saw are you using? I wanna start working with boards any advice on what tools I should get first ? And equipment?
Its a cheap Delta 9in bandsaw. It works pretty well for cutting up boards since their shape is so weird. A 9 or 10 inch bandsaw would definitely be a good starter tool. A bench top belt sander is also very handy for making things flat. A table saw is also a very versatile tool that I find indispensable. It all depends on what type of things you want to make, but a bandsaw, a belt sander, and a table saw would be a great start for working with boards.
Not bad for a finish hammer
It is usually used for closing paint cans lol
Next time you do a video like this, make a small hatchet handle and put it on an old Vaughn framing hammer. Then it might be worth some good money
Hi. How did the hammer stand the strain the last 3 years? Is it still in use? 🤔
Hello Rene, its still going strong, though I don't use it for real heavy work. Head hasn't loosened as far as I know. Thank you!
UA-cam must be spying on me, I made 2 hammer handles and a mallet also and now a hammer handle video gets magically suggested.
Mine's not quite as colorful as yours though.
UA-cam is always watching...
Great job! i made a hammer handle over on my channel too.
NBW Creations nice job! 👍

That is awesome, I likey alot. Now where does an old guy like myself find busted decks etc.??????
Ask around the skatepark. Most people just give em away!
Thank you.
