Dude! This is soooo helpful! My ZX6R just had a bad track day. After first session the overflow tank was boiling over and spitting engine ice all over. Can I just omit/ delete the thermostat all together?? Was cool visiting ur shop last month too!

You can stop at the air box ..
there is enough hand room for a socket
Also do not remove the hose on the thermo housing

Whats up man 2013 636 here. Radiator blew on me. What should I check the impeller first?
It was running fine. It was a cold morning 20's. Was warming it up and it was flashing HI. tried to run it and see if it went down. It did for a sec but went back to HI. Then while going slow it blew.
So there must be a colling issue.
So i check the water pump first rite?

I would also check the thermostat cap. I had to replace mine due to a small crack that was causing a leak. I have a 97 Kawasaki Ninja ZX 7R

Did you torque the bolts on the housing or just snug!??

Did you ever figure out that pin for certain? My 2011 zx6r has had over heating issue and I just went to replace thermostat and found the exact same pin. And can't figure out where it goes?

i would think is the inside guide of the thermostat

I seen a hole in thermostat, did that pin come from the bleed hole on thermostat?

I had the shop i use for winter storage, do spark plug change, oil change and clean out my air filter. So now the bike is making a rattling buzzing sound. Around 4-6k RPM, 1-4th gear.
I cant pin point exactly where its coming from, but its mainly by the fan, towards the top, to the right side, towards under the tank.
I put my hand on the cluster, wheel damper, gas tank, as im riding and purposely go over little bumps and stuff and the rattle and ticking noise is still there. I took the bike back twice. They said, the bolts on the ram air intake were lose and the nose was hanging off. It started again soon as i left the shop. I took it back couple days later, they said the plastics were lose, so they replaced the grommets and so on. And still no difference. Any idea what my problem could be?

@@Swag_king423 its either the cam chain or there is a lose bolt in the airbox. i still havent figure it out yet but im assuming its one of the two

Just did basically same thing and I also found the exact same pin in my thermostat housing and can't figure out where it goes. I checked the waterpump shift pin and it's not that. Any ideas?

i think that´s the pin guide inside the thermostat, it only see when it opens, it could be the problem to not working well?

Thank you, that's what I think it might have been from other people I have spoken with, but I have no clue how it might have been able to pass through the radiator and up into where it was. It also might have been in the replacement radiator I installed and got there.

    • @mrcarbon1747
      @mrcarbon1747 5 років тому +2

I would just double check the pin in the shaft, I have had mine out a few times and it can easily drop out if the parts move slightly when installing, the pump would then pull it through with the coolant, I would have thought you would have had a pump issue if it had though, but worth a check 👍🏻
