To me the idea that "finding food, escaping from predators, and creating offspring" is (as long as you're talking about a creature actively doing those things, doesn't just get blown along by the tide or whatever) is not conscious at some low level is baffling. Where in evolution did the switch flip to 'on'? Cool video. I take it even further into panpsychism.. but I don't get the rationale for thinking a switch flipped at some point. After watching the full video, I guess I basically agree with you "consciousness is a byproduct of information processing".
The only thing is real is my consciousness. I doubt every thing else. Maybe other people are conscious because they look like me. Matter or at least how we perceive it is Illusory and false. It makes sense to me more rather than wonder what consciousness is
My personal view is that anything with nerves has an experience. Nerves cause experience. Experience is not _required_ by an entity (although I do have a video on _what_ caused there to be experience in the universe), and it's not exactly a benefit. What sense does it make that nerves do what they do without there being an experience of what the nerves are for: to _sense_ ... Sense itself _is_ experience... It's the inevitable result of the nervous system-which was produced by evolutionary pressures that proved to be useful.
Sense is sensors, such at chemical detection, light detection and so on. That came before nerves. So sense is no experience as that entails memory, no nerves, no memory. Nerves evolved after the beginning of multicellularity. Nerves started out attached to sensor cells. Brains are networks of nerves that evolved to process data from sensing cell. THEN experience, memory of senses, could begin.
Great video full of great points
thank you

Can you send me the link to your video about the cause of experience in the universe?
