Thanks to many of your videos, I have so far managed to fix everything myself that my kids have thrown at an old Honda four wheeler. It’s hilarious when the men drive up our holler and see me out doing things to it. Heck, had one drive by twice and on the second trip through, brought beer and started talking shop about it like I had any idea what he was talking about, and left. Lol
Just wanted to say thanks for this how to. I had already done one on my 03 rancher. I wanted to be sure I wired it right. This one's a little different! Appreciate it! 🤘
Hey Crazy Dad... I appreciate the video, it actually helped me yesterday to replace the switch on my Old Honda 300 Fourtrax... Took me 3 hours bc I have fat polock fingers but you're video was awesome.. Appreciate it man.
I appreciate the video and would have liked more content on that machine since I just bought one that needs the switch done. Subscribed because your hotrod content looks good too. Thanks!
At 5:22 , the electrical connector box the Honda service manual says with the switch in the on position that the red wire and the black wire should have continuity between them and the pink and the pink/white wire should have continuity between these two if the switch is good. If not switch should be replaced It has red listed as bat1, black as bat2, pink/white as bat3 and pink as ignition. Hopefully this might help someone diagnosing if switch is bad or good
Your video was a great help took me literally five minutes to change my ignition switch. Only problem is I’ve replaced all electrical on my ATV and I can’t get any spark. Any ideas? Appreciate your time. Thank you.
I would just cut the both wires and solder the new switch wires to the old switch wires and heat shrink the solder joints and cut out all the taking apart of things.
My friend has a 300 4x4 and the dodo lost his key. Anyways, he is having a guy rebuild his top end and the guy told him that there is a number of some sort on the ignition cylinder that can tell a locksmith the way the key should be cut. I pulled it off and sure enough there was a 6 digit # / letter combo. I hope that he can get it done because we are going to muddy bottoms this weekend and i would prefer not to hot wire it haha
Hey hey how’s it going nice 300 mine sounds the exact same when trying to start but it has no spark I’ve asked tons of people an I can’t figure it out for anything
Ended up having to replace another part, I think it was the coil. (sorry it has been a while) Then it fired right up and ran awesome. There is also one other ignition system part that it might have been, but can't remember what it was called now. But it was one or the other of the two. Pretty lame answer sorry. But neither one was very expensive and an easy fix. Good luck.
or you could just read the number off the ignition switch itself and buy a few extra keys... ;) lots less work than swapping out the whole switch.... I know.. I've had to buy an extra key once or twice!
The Honda TRX300 Fourtrax was and still is the best ATV that has ever been made.
Not enough experience with it to say one way or another, but glad you like it!
This was exactly what I needed to install my new switch!

Looked everywhere for a video on this and could not locate one. Thank you very much for making this!!
Glad it was helpful. I couldn't find one either so I figured I'd better make one!

Thank you sir!! According to this continuity test, this confirms that my switch is bad. I am very grateful for your information!
Good information. I wasn't concerned about the switch working, I just didn't have a key!
You are a true lifesaver thank you!!!!!!

Great video, make more on this quad! There are lots of them around, and I'm doing same stuff right now haha.
Glad you liked it! Turned out that it had a bad coil and that was it. Have put a lot of miles on it in the last month. Great bike!

Right on. I'm sure any good locksmith can make a new key for it.
Thanks man
Very welcome!
