getting a 10 or even more so a black label is too subjective. I bet if you were to crack out a black label and resubmitted it multiple times it wouldn't consistently get a black label. one of the many reasons i don't fw bgs
I heard bgs graders eyeball the centring instead of using a centering tool. Seen an interview with one of the graders and he confirmed it. That's shady
Idk what’s going on at Beckett with their centering scores. I got a shipment back full of 8.5 and 9.0s on centering when I measured them out as 52/48 or better before sending. There’s a video I just saw a couple days ago on UA-cam where they interview a Beckett grader. He stated that he doesn’t have tools other than a light and ruler. That surprises me because I assumed they had centering tools and use techniques to measure centering other than just “eye balling” it.
Wow, that’s wild. I mean, I think you can have an eye for it… but there are definitely people who definitely don’t and would probably do best to use a centering tool.
I even use a centering tool when measuring the centering of my cards. What's these grading companies doing? Let's use a kindergarten ruler and 1930's old detective reading light to professionally grade cards... PSA is similar. I swear your grades have little to do with the condition of your card. It's up to tge mood of your grader...
i mean it has to be fake when you go BGS booths at convensions they use tools, and tools cant be that expensive and way less time consuming than a ruller. but in both cases its hard to line it up perfect anyways, and still needs to eyes to read the ruller right, so tools aside the grading is always not going to be consistent, thats why you batch your grading and dont send all of your hyper expesnvie cards at once, i usally mix a few good witha few average and it turns out alright.
@LegendofLuke Oh, weird, I watched an Ace grading tour the other day, just assumed all grading companies operated at that level of tech / precision. My bad.
I’m one of the other 10 people with that Zoro black label! did you get a sense of how Beckett treats the bumps and fuzzies on the edges of English One Piece cards? I know with vintage cards they pretty much ignore them, but I’m wondering if they dock your edge score.
Oh nice!! Congrats to you too. I’ll need to take a better look to see, but I do have one other Black Label I bought that has noticeable “fuzzies” on the edge, so they do seem to ignore that… or at least they used to.
@@LegendofLuke Luke, I just got a shipment back from Beckett with a couple One Pieces that got Pristines and 10 on edges. They had fuzzies and bumps. I think Beckett just ignores them like they’re not there. I still use a microfiber and run my finger once over the edge just to get the easy fuzzies off.
First off, grats on the Zoro BL. For the DON!! card, it looked near perfect centered from edge to art, but there is a border within the border I find can throw things off there. Some quick constructive feedback, you shake your cards around so fast and frequently to get that foil sheen it's super hard to read the label details. May want to dial that back or slow it up a bit. Anyway, your Sabo leader looked great left to right, but top to bottom was pretty imbalanced. If memory serves, a 10 is 50/50 centering in both directions, 60/40 is a 9.5, and 70/30 is a 9. I'm guessing if you measured that Centering, you'd find it barely fell out of 9.5 territory. Then again, my wife and I have also been pleasantly surprised at times, and horrified at the results in other cases, so you just never know. We live near Beckett and have chatted with folks there. They have a lot of new hires, and I think some are being really overly critical.
Interesting, maybe it varies by set. But also, it can depend on where you buy it from. If you buy on TCGplayer, most likely they’ll send you the non-gradable copies.
Hi im new to all of these type of videos I love one piece I mean who doesn’t ahha . I was just wondering is this a company who gives you cards or do u send them ur cards and they grade them for you?. I would love to use this company to get sow for myself where did you get them from? Thank you love the video.
Beckett is a company that grades cards. I basically send them cards I already own, they grade them and send them back. If you watch some of my other One Piece videos, you can see the type of boxes you can buy to pull cards from. Or you can purchase the cards outright on websites like TCGplayer or eBay.
I might have to get back to you on that. Tbh I really did not expect this many 9.5s as I was really picky with what I sent off. Often the 9.5s are break even and may even sell for the same as raw.
Black label is when you get all 10s on the subgrades, so in theory it is a “perfect” card. Where a gold pristine 10 has one 9.5 subgrade and three 10 subgrades. They are the top tier grade in the hobby so they are worth quite a lot.
it's very hard to get 10 from beckett.. while if you want to get 10 it's hard to get 10 black labels.. that's why many people are more interested in grading to psa.. but if you get 10 from beckett the price beats psa10.. high risk but if interested then continue..🎉

@@LegendofLuke I’ve seen some PSA come with and without the actual team bag sleeves. I’m waiting on my first Beckett return. Just hoping for the sleeves because PSA sent 4 tens with no sleeves. Had to buy from VaultX to keep them clear..
It is referring to how well the main artwork is centered on the card, which is usually a result of how well the card was cut in the factory. Each card has borders, and a well-centered card will have borders with equal widths.
PSA is the safer bet for sure. But I really like how the gold 10s look, and they usually command a higher value than PSA 10s. Black Labels are obviously on a whole other level.
Would be cool to see a total included for how much you spent grading vs what the return was after grading

that second card is so good looking. glad you got it in such a high grade!
Yeah you’re right, that was a great one to Black Label with the color match. 👌
There is very little point in questioning decisions without using the tech they use to do it, I understand the frustration though.
Lol they don’t use tech. It’s all by eye.
