I lived on the cradley Park Estate just behind the Elephant and Castle from 1981 up until about 2008 technically its Netherton but just a few minutes got me over the Newtown bridge border into Cradley. I used to fall asleep as a kid to the speedway and the stamping hammers. I'm pretty sure I saw He-man at the Royal. Ive walked back many Friday and Saturday nights back up the High Street and passed the old flee pit while they made the decision to knock it down to make way for Tesco. I was only telling my 10 year old daughter about the 5 ways church, the 5 ways pub, anchor, fishing tackle shop, ballet school and the cock Inn (?) which have all gone and replaced with a car wash. Some good times had round there
That has brought some real good memories back to me When I was a child I used to go to the Cradley Heath Cinema Every night I saw Jungle Book there 13 times Used to cost me to Bob in The 60s Nice to see where the projectors were And the picture quality was really good And the sound was to Thank you four making your short film It has made my day I left Cradley Heath in 1969 To go to live in Rotherham I am 64 this year

You wouldn`t believe what a mess this place is now. It`s full of shelving and rusting bikes from a failed business. The organ is in a terrible state and the owner won`t allow it to be removed as he believes (wrongly, that it is valuable. Terrible shame.
I remember when the Workers Institute belonged to Attwoods solicitors - we used them when buying our first house - Mr Attwood’s office was full of yellowing paperwork - his secretary still used an old IBM typewriter! This was in 2000!
I have strong connections to the Institute as my great grandmother, Patience Round was one of the leading women in the women chain makers strike. The left over strike funds built the Institute. I am also related to Attwoods and I once rang them to try and discuss family history, but the guy was not interested.

😲 shocked to see the out side of the majestic looking like this 😳 I go past it most weeks as I only live up the road my friends best mate was the manager at some point I'd say this was before her time there as someone called mark was the manager in this video though I'll ask her family all that's left is a adult porn shop 😳 sad
Great! I was manager of Evans Chemist in the early 1980's. Great people

Hello again, Hazel!! What a shame to hear the organ has gone to rack and ruin; such a waste of a lovely instrument. Peter A :)
