This method of honing works wonderfully. I had a micro chipping problem with a new razor, so if your shave isn't great and you can't seem to get a decent hht test after stroping this may be the problem. To check your edge, you can get a hand held 100 power microscope for $15.00 and these work surprisingly well. I had to kill the edge 3 times in order to get my blade sorted but once I did my shaves were great. These jnat stones work so incredibly well, once you use one you will be hooked.

Alex you make it look so darn easy. Once again I am in awe. Your pictures document your outstanding approach. Thank you. I will emulate what you have demonstrated with my shoubundi and hope for a similar result.

So is the wedge thing with the magnet, there so you can get a tilt angle on the razors view.

What JNAT do you think is the best finisher for straight razors?

Every person you ask might give you a different answer, but generally speaking, the harder stones are finishers
