Charlie Batch? What is he?😂JF is doing alright…certainly better than he was in Chicago. For once, he is being developed the way a QB should be. Tomlin and Arthur Smith are taking the pressure off him, which is the right approach. Rebuild his confidence so you have something great in future years. It’s very clear that Tomlin and Smith don’t trust JF to play in a way that scores points without his making mistakes that cost them points. That’s okay. He needs to get better at processing and develop a more accurate arm. If I were JF, I would watch nothing but Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson tapes. But for now, the coaches trust him to manage the run game and contribute a few good runs and passes per game. Russ can do much more than that, and contrary to what people believe, Russ is still a good runner. Russ is not not going to give you 800-900 rush yards in a season anymore (or even 550), but he can still give you 400-500, which will makes him a bona fide top-5 or top-6 rusher among QBs. He had 348 yards last season in Denver (2023-24) on mostly non-designed runs over 15 games. That was good for 8th right behind #7 Patrick Mahomes. For THIS year, I would rather have a QB who gives me what *Russell Wilson* does: 3,500-4,400 passing yards 30-40 passing TDs 7-11 INTs 65-69% complete a 100+ passer rating 400-500 rush yards 3-5 rush TDs …than a QB who gives me what *Justin Fields* does: 2,200-2,300 passing yards 14-17 passing TDs 10 INTs 60-62% complete 83 passer rating 1,000 rush yards 10 rush TDs This year’s Steelers team needs a grown man at QB, but they can still use JF being on the field. Use them both with JF in special packages, but Russ is your QB1.
Fields will get better
