Feist, like Emily when she's with them, really make these come alive on stage - it's too bad they can't tour together regularly. I imagine they'd sell out everything with those two on the bill along with the rest of the original/expanded band (no disrespect to Amy Millan who is great at filling-in and doing her own thing).
It's insane to be that they just basically reproduces the album version of this track almost to a tee, including every knob tweak by buddy on the synth. Pretty stellar performance.
I was in a real bad place in 2006. Girlfriend broke up with me, I was feeling like I life didn'tmake any sense. Then I caught this band watching the film Half Nelson. BSS you saved my life. Thank you.
THey are SOOOOO UNDER RATED!!! I've loved them for so long...since '04...but did not see a video of them performing and not even a music vid until TODAY....wtf is wrong with me, I wish I saw them live back then!!!
Prison Hair I think the mic is a KCR-2880 and the effect is running through that, but yes that is an old-school memory man for sure. This performance is so killin
I hate it when Feist happens to be playing with them and I see or hear "Broken Social Scene featuring Feist" instead of just "Broken Social Scene." If Amy happened to be playing with them on this night, he wouldn't have said "Broken Social Scene featuring Amy Millan", he would've just said "Broken Social Scene." I know it's because Feist is a big breakout star, and I know she sang co-lead vocals on both of the songs they played on Fallon, but it still irritates me. But whatever. They sounded great and I still love them and this song still blows me away every time I hear it.
I think it's mainly because she's usually not in most of their live performances and never was. Even back in 2005 and 2006 they usually had a different female vocalist, and when she sang with them it would say "featuring Feist". It's actually helpful for the people looking for live performances that include Feist as opposed to the other vocalist since she's a pretty great addition.
Although if you already have a headliner name like Feist did and you guest on a 'revolving door' gig unexpected & unannounced it's weird. Amy Millan didn't have a headliner solo name until recently, she was just in Stars. Anyway she's a good sport & I happened to catch By Divine Right a few summers ago... many good tunes heard and old members reunited! ua-cam.com/video/I94v7Y9cTG4/v-deo.html
Wrong. Haines has performed it with BSS live occasionally but the original and the video feature Feist. Please show me this original recording only you seem to know about where Feist wasn't featured...link please?
Klaris Chua I was expecting something fron Forgiveness Rock Record but when I heard Feist I knew it wasn't. Isn't it the same effect she used on the albim version too though
The hype surrounding this band. I like them, but I remember the word (Big Band)....whoopi a bunch of guitarist. Same song can be done with two guitarist, bass and drums.

Feist great artist, those guys...SOME DECENT MUSICIANS, but most of it just trying to do too much, and forget about playing ...a band does not need all those guys together...and that rocknroll star attitude...pfff
i love this song with all my being. someone pls appreciate it with me
I think we all love it. That's why we're here!
if you love this listen to kc accidental. another classic.

Still appreciate it nowww
OMG! Feisty blows the boundaries on how hot one can be... And what a vocal performance!
Feist has a great voice. And she's so cute.
That's auto-tune

This is incredible! What indie rock is all about.
Too cool for the room pretentious horseshit?
Pretentious hipster garbage.
kind of get lost dancing to this

Greatest band on Earth
it is insane how perfect something canadian can be. thank you
I was in a real bad place in 2006. Girlfriend broke up with me, I was feeling like I life didn'tmake any sense. Then I caught this band watching the film Half Nelson.
BSS you saved my life. Thank you.
This album changed my life--and this song was at the top of the list! Every song on the record was some other worldly, brilliant stuff
Me too
My college roommate put me on to BSS.
Omg love you BSS
They’re touring the album now for its 20th anniversary. Definitely make it to one of the shows if you can. Saw them last night, incredible.
@@viachicagoFeist joining them?
Goddam, that sounded awesome. Been rediscovering BSS and Feist today, my son was a big fan back when. yum, all I'm sayin'.
What an awesome performance
Feist! just yes to her forever!
Such a perfect song😊
2:57 is simply fantastic
Cool to see Charles Speirn of Do May Say Think here. Kudos. Beautiful people, beautiful music.
He's a full time BSS member also
I wish I could find a performance of "Stars and Sons" by Broken Social Scene with Feist :(
I saw them in Austin at the Parish in 2004 and it was the absolute best show I've ever seen
I saw them at Stubb's--same thing!!
Last night at Massey hall in Toronto so happy my 5th ten at their concerts !!!!!!
that "we'd look better if we'd wed" look at 1:08
So many guitars oh my!

Best band ever.
Great performance of a great song. Every time he yelled "Feist!" though you know Kevin Drew's heart broke a little bit.
thank you SO MUCH for posting this!
first UA-cam post ever. that was fucking amazing
chills
Damn. So good.
ohmygod i missed you guys sooo muchhh!

God I miss indie music 😩
How many guitars are there? Yes.
Bravo!
I know that feeling, I can't make it either :C Guess I'll be blasting their albums in the house all night
Gah! Can't believe I am not heading down to Fort York to see this today. :(
thanks
Feist: Schwing.
Excellent entry!
that's how you do it
Omg
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT MIC/EFFECTS SETUP LESLIE FEIST IS USING IN THIS PERFORMANCE?? must have.
+D'Andre Fontanelle she's plugged into a memory man delay pedal fo sho
Prison Hair I think the mic is a KCR-2880 and the effect is running through that, but yes that is an old-school memory man for sure. This performance is so killin
I do too
Anyone know what pedal that used by Feist?
¿Como se llama la canción que toca al final la banda del programa ? Supongo quienes un c9ver de alguna canción

Feist is such a babe. What's the pedal she's holding? Is it for her mic?
Judson Kolk EHX memory man
Those people standing at the back look like juries.
Feist
did feist use voice effects? (but i am pleasantly surprised that they're performing this in 2013)
Klaris Chua I was expecting something fron Forgiveness Rock Record but when I heard Feist I knew it wasn't. Isn't it the same effect she used on the albim version too though
Notice they haven’t been back on Jimmy Fallon ? After this song
live then.
Feist... Fuckin' Feist...
cute.
Musical perfection is Feist's based booty fueled voicebox yells.
is it ft. feist if she's in the band
Nice frames, Drew (no lenses).
oh i just liked the shit out of this video
Its necesary 3 guitars? The sound is great but...
BSS makes me jealous that I'm not Canadian.
what do you mean she doesn't suit it? she co-wrote it and sang on the original when she was in the band..duh.
Wellcome to ”Way out west”
hehe
this sounds 100x better than the studio version.
As you should. ;)
Only 4 dudes on guitars?...
like si ves a lisboa singing of paper house

It is nice, if somewhat derivative. Lots of guitars!
I dunno .... I think they need more guitars .....
Feist is too loud or Kevin is too low in the mix - not sure which.
I felt nothing. Maybe sound mixing sucked.
Why does Feist look like Sheryl Crow nowadays...why oh why...
Sound like Arcade Fire. Love 'em.
The other way around. AF sound like BSC.
she suits it on the recorded version but not live? that makes no sense at all.
For some reason this makes you look like you completely missed what this band is all about :/
mixing is bad whyy
All those guitars and Rush still is better ! Geddy Lee Alex Lifeson,Neal Peart the best!!!
Not whatsoever.
For a three piece Rush did so much! It takes 16 of these hosers just to play this...

doesn't groove like the recording.
