Programmer or IT employee should not invest in stocks

Most of investment videos online are not profession specific which cause alot of trouble. As an IT engineer, I feel giving a lot of time to learning investment is not a good idea in our prime age, we can better make same amount of returns by just giving 10 hours of extra effort over weekends in a month.
This is jus to prove that, instead to focus on learning investing it is better to use secure way of investment and earn less return and instead use extra time to earn more than risky returns.
Later once you retire than we can learn investing and give full time to it.
