With the Flute Concerto by Friedrich Witt this is the most beautiful Flute Concerto of the Classical Era . The last Movement of this Krommer Concerto belongs to the best Classical Pieces ever ! I have put the Witt Concerto together with this Concerto in my Playlists Flute Concertos . I have Playlists for all classical Instruments ,- Concertos and Chamber Works !

Truly remarkable concerto, full of the most varied sentiments (Empfindungen)! You should record ALL of the Krommer Flute Concertos! I did not know that Krommer had received such international honors, mistakenly believing that his reputation was more localized in Vienna. During his lifetime, his symphonies - especially the Fourth and Fifth - were performed alongside those of Joseph Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. I still have not understood why his music fell off the radar - and so quickly - that his Eighth Symphony was lost, and his Ninth, which is a highly innovative masterpiece, oscillating between two keys - A minor and C major! - was never performed until recently. If anyone has an answer to this question, I would like to hear it. Qualitatively, in this rare case, I do not see any qualitative difference between his music and that of the above-named other composers. Only Anton Eberl seems to measure up, but he died young and did not come to full compositional maturity, although his two most ambitious symphonies are innovative and of high quality. But Eberl, like Krommer, was forgotten surprising quickly. Again, I cannot figure out why! Krommer was prolific; again, given his productivity, one wonders why he was forgotten. There is something wrong with - and embarrassing about - music historical reception that allowed the music of such great masters to fall by wayside. Thank-you for bringing this concerto back to life!
I used to think so much of Mozart's compositions; regarding them as supreme. But Krommer has opened a totally bigger picture .... the variety of expression, the orchestral texture backing everything and speed and fullness with whichI feel flooded is heavenly. Which I'd known sooner; but that's what onegets when one concentrates on one composer too much.Great addition to UA-cam, Thanks
That's why it's good to listen to as many composers and artists as possible. Otherwise your musical taste and knowledge stagnate.

If you are going by the style of the first two movements, I think this counts as a Romantic concerto. The third movement is very light in the Classical style.
The second movement sounds almost menacing at times. Very dark.
It is in the transition zone, but definitively more Romantic than Classical ( starting with an orchestration atypical of a classical concerto for flute)
