I did not know that he had composed TWO concertos for two clarinets. Heard this one on radio last week and then found the other one also on you tube. In any event, Krommer is grossly underrated and needs more exposure.

He does need more exposure, I agree.

My assessment of Krommer is that he was a superb composer who is somewhat under-rated because his music is is so damn cheerful. Really an upper!

Vielleicht liest du mal in einer Beethoven-Biographie nach, was L.v.B. von Krommer gehalten hat.

I read somewhere that F. Haydn listened to one of Krommer's symphonies and felt that, although K. was highly prolific, most of his music seemed "insipid" (!)

When listening to Kramář's Allegro, it reminds me of J.C. Arriaga...also an excellent composer. Thank you, KuhlauDilfeng2, for all the music you upload. You have indeed given us some treasures...

Thank you very much for all the music you upload - it's both educational to discover "new" composers (for someone like me who is not familiar with them all) and a great pleasure to listen to!

I just discovered the music of Franz Krommer. And, i dare to say, in my catalog of great classical music composers, he is up there with Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Dvorak.

Quintessential Kramar-Krommer & clarinetissimo! Love every note, runs & long tones, FUN max! Enjoy performing it on clarinet. Proud of being a Bohemian ...

This is a very well balanced work. Having the third movement in our rep at my alma mater, I must say the first movement and second should have been played with it.

Thank you, KuhlauDilfeng2 for opening up my musical horizons. Franz Krommer was a real find; his is some of the finest Galant style music I've ever heard.

Es realmente exquisito y grandilocuente la palabra sonora hecha carne. En esta sinfonía se proyecta la alcurnia aristocrática de un compositor hecho ya para la posterioridad leyenda histórica.

KuhlauDilfeng2 Ok. This is Op. 91. there is an Op.35 as well. I'm playing Op. 35. I didn't realize he had more than one concerto for Two Clarinets.

Its really baffling that they both are in E-flat.

Clarinets (at least in those days) had a limited range of keys they could play well in. B-flat and E-flat seem to be favorites as far as clarinet concertos go.
