I love whenever they say a word that there’s not a sangheili equivalent to. My mom’s from Thailand and this happens all the time when she’s talking to her relatives on the phone. Something about it just makes the ears perk up ya’know?
@@Wheresthepepsibismol yeah, the brutes in h2 and h3 talked way more civilized than the h4-h5 ones The elites in h2 and h3 talked even more civilized than the brutes in h2-h3 Pretty much a downgrade i guess?
I wouldn’t mind if a Sangheili spoke to me in English. However, if Jul just growled out “PROGRESS?!” because I’m not as fast deciphering an artifact as he’d like, I’d just curl up in the ball and cry out of stress.
I wasn't expecting him to be some genius conqueror but given the Sanghelli's martial traditions, he should have been more than a ten second cutscene fight.
What if in Halo 6,Jul didn’t die from those stabs, instead two things could happen. 1.Cortana somehow threatens the universe with a way to make every living thing a Promethean Knight or something and Jul becomes a General after being composed ,to rival Warden Eternal (Like The Arbiter and Tartarus in Halo 2) 2.He simply gets healed by his allies or maybe by a long shot, the Banished,at Atriox’s command has Jul healed if he survived Locke’s injuries somehow. I’m probably insane but it’s a try...?
Or, I may be stretching here, but going off of his characters use of deception to achieve his goals, I don't think it's out of the question to suggest that Jul could have employed a body double, who was killed in halo 5, while Jul himself stuck to the shadows and prepared in secret.
@@RookBone You know, if you managed to find a way to make a fan game of it, or if you somehow managed to be in charge of the next story, you could incorporate that in like, if ever do, the next game. Me: ” wow you guys made this cool villain who has a sad backstory in the novels and is trying to revive the covenant! What are you going to do with him in halo 5?” 343: “I don’t know, Kill him”
I don't mind the elites new designs but i wish they kept the old ones too, hell they already bothered to model them in the new engine so why not put them in game? Also Jul Mdama is the fucking leader of the new covenant, you couldn't have given us a boss battle?
at this point watching this video already made me wish for jul to have been given so much more than just the worse possible death in the halo that had no literal story...hell watching the elites dying was kinda sad to watch for me ngl...especially when the elites were very close with one another. Hell I would've preferred a elite side story at this point, both in arbiter's army and jul's remnant covenant. but nope, 343 decides to say, fuck it.
Personally, I don't mind their current design; it at least makes them still look a big & imposing species, unlike Halo 3's smaller, hunchbacks in comparison. Though, I do miles prefer Reach's Elite designs as they looked more badass & scary; the black eyes and sharp shark-like teeth made them freaky.
Imma be real Halsey trying to work with Jul Mdama in Halo 4 is some bullshit. She literally kidnaps kids to create super soldiers to fight insurrectionists, then sits on a high horse because some of those kids survived long enough to save humanity from the Covenant, then she's like "Hey Jul Mdama, I know you want to exterminate humanity but wanna help me find the Librarian?" Nah man she's lucky that Palmer only hit her shoulder, also the Didact and the Janus Key both kinda disappeared into the comics and booms after Halo 4, I don't actually know what happens to them both since I haven't been able to play through Infinite yet
After he went through all of this from Spartan Ops and books that he's the main antagonist, he then gets killed off in the first mission of Halo 5. What a waste!
Yes ... 343i wasted the potential of: julmdama, the rookie, the didact, and then even cortana.... But not only that.... they have also forgotten many past charackters like rtas vaduum(first specops commander then shipmaster), lord hood, sgt stacker, Romeo, dutch, Mike, Its just sad.... But i also was very dissapointed when chief lost cortana in halo 4, and his promise to johnson was never mentioned Johnsons literally last words were: "dont let her go... dont let her ever go... send me out with a bang..." So chief couldnt keep his promise he gave johnson before he died .... sad, but why 343 didnt mention it? Could have been so much more emotional
I always thought a good origin story for jul would've been that. During the human covenant war, Jul was a commander of a resource operation on a planet the covenant wanted to extract materials from. They began making a base on the planet, they started mining for certain materials and by accident they destroyed a material that released a gas. That gas caused all animals and covenant forces to mutate changing their behaviour and physical body. During this process the rest of the covenant cut all contact with the planet, cut their resource extraction causing a lot of the grunts, jackals, elites and brutes to start attacking each other to eat and they launched several bombs on the planet destroying a lot of their ships. Overtime Jul's hate for the covenant and humanity began to grow and he thought enough was enough. He reunited all the soldiers left to join forces and they would survive and get their revenge on the covenant. With all their strength being combined as one they began creating ships and once their army was prepared they began invading planets. They were searching for species to convert into their group. They often forced grunts, jackals etc... Into the gas that changed them because Jul believed that his kind were the evolution of the sangheli. Keep in mind these new elites would be threatening and competent
Mdama would have been really cool, had he been the only Elite to look... well, like /that/ I hate the 4 and 5 Elite design, but I think it would have worked for Mdama. He's a better tactician than warrior, so the bulbous and less tactical armor would almost make sense.

really annoys me how shit they made the elites look in this game
jaow I like the design, but the way they act is completely against everything before. Jul in the books is smart, cunning, and full of honor. Not this stupid brute crap
Sub species
@@minilla2382 bullshit excuse for bad retcon character design
@@spectorproductions_ ik but mine not in charge of the Studio
@@Narddog3213 same I like the way they look in halo 4 better because they seem more badass and powerful .
Jul mndama was the only character in 343 games that i was interested in aside from the didactic and librarian, he had a good story and badass, and they made books and Spartan ops about him and then killed him off in a stupid cutscene and even then it wasn’t a good scene, he went down way too easy. I think the 343 elites were bad and act too brutish, but jul was legit interesting
Went from Halsey wanting revenge on the Unsc to what we see on Halo 5, fuck Brian Reed is an absolute shit story writer, I'm glad he's not writing Halo 6
Oh and killing of Jul Mdama in the 1st mission, what a waste of character development
She never wanted revenge, she was lying to distract Jul until the UNSC would rescue her.
I like Jul, he is an elite that doesn't follow the honor rules, just like Rippa Mammore in Halo Wars
I’m still so impressed by the fact M’Dama is voiced by Travis Willingham
Jacob Peters b’day
Jul had a story and had potential...
Wtf brian reed ya killed him too fast
I love him and his covenant
RIP JUUL MDMA
5:37 I really like the idea of Spartan Thorne, if he was fleshed out more, he could have been a great character honestly.
Jul: “I would…like…to RAGE!”
halo 5 is the last jedi of Halo lol
Wait, THATS how he dies? God that is so.
So shit.
Should re-title the video “how to introduce a new decent character and then ruin it”
the best way to describe the new elites would be "stumbling baffoons"
9:35 I wish Promethens went down like that.
The elites died instantly once when they got shot from the exposed parts of the armor just like getting stabbed from there, just to clarify for the people in the comment section arguing about this
so um... I guess energy shields stop working during cutscenes???
They killed off jul so fucking fast just to make lock look like a bad ass.
Category: Comedy. Judging by the quality of Jul's scenes, it makes sense.

Didn't know the elites evolved into brutes
Same
i hate the way the elites mandibles move when they talk in the halo 4 and 5 games... in halo 2 remastered they moved their mandibles to form and sound out words. 2:55 prime example of the movement while talking.
He has a spawn point on his head
I love whenever they say a word that there’s not a sangheili equivalent to. My mom’s from Thailand and this happens all the time when she’s talking to her relatives on the phone. Something about it just makes the ears perk up ya’know?
The elites are more brute like than the actual brutes
I know instead of terrifying like Reach elites they look like Dinosaurs mixed with brutes.
@@Wheresthepepsibismol yeah, the brutes in h2 and h3 talked way more civilized than the h4-h5 ones
The elites in h2 and h3 talked even more civilized than the brutes in h2-h3
Pretty much a downgrade i guess?
All these years later, I still can't believe that, after all that setup with Spartan Ops and Escalation, that they kill Jul M'dama like that.
6:07
*That moment you realized you fucked with the wrong spartan*
Jul's death scene was the worst mistake in halo 5
I wouldn’t mind if a Sangheili spoke to me in English. However, if Jul just growled out “PROGRESS?!” because I’m not as fast deciphering an artifact as he’d like, I’d just curl up in the ball and cry out of stress.
I wasn't expecting him to be some genius conqueror but given the Sanghelli's martial traditions, he should have been more than a ten second cutscene fight.
What if in Halo 6,Jul didn’t die from those stabs, instead two things could happen.
1.Cortana somehow threatens the universe with a way to make every living thing a Promethean Knight or something and Jul becomes a General after being composed ,to rival Warden Eternal (Like The Arbiter and Tartarus in Halo 2)
2.He simply gets healed by his allies or maybe by a long shot, the Banished,at Atriox’s command has Jul healed if he survived Locke’s injuries somehow.
I’m probably insane but it’s a try...?
Or he could have survive the fall by grabbing the edge of the clife and sware to get his revenge
Or, I may be stretching here, but going off of his characters use of deception to achieve his goals, I don't think it's out of the question to suggest that Jul could have employed a body double, who was killed in halo 5, while Jul himself stuck to the shadows and prepared in secret.
@@RookBone HELL YEAH
@@RookBone You know, if you managed to find a way to make a fan game of it, or if you somehow managed to be in charge of the next story, you could incorporate that in like, if ever do, the next game.
But knowing game companies these days, they want 'woke' instead of good story, and wonder why things have gone to shit.
The only good enemy in halo 4 he was sorta interesting
Me: ” wow you guys made this cool villain who has a sad backstory in the novels and is trying to revive the covenant! What are you going to do with him in halo 5?”
343: “I don’t know, Kill him”
Jul had so much potential.
I don't mind the elites new designs but i wish they kept the old ones too, hell they already bothered to model them in the new engine so why not put them in game? Also Jul Mdama is the fucking leader of the new covenant, you couldn't have given us a boss battle?
I don’t like how high their mandibles are. I miss the old designs.
at this point watching this video already made me wish for jul to have been given so much more than just the worse possible death in the halo that had no literal story...hell watching the elites dying was kinda sad to watch for me ngl...especially when the elites were very close with one another. Hell I would've preferred a elite side story at this point, both in arbiter's army and jul's remnant covenant. but nope, 343 decides to say, fuck it.
I wanna see more of Thorn and Palmer fighting. They are badass.
you know what's weird elites killed many sparton 2 and 3 but they can't kill some sparton 4
I don't like the current Elite design. Here, they look like something that crawled out of a nightmare and/or Hell itself.
Mr. K Dilkington they look wrong. just look at their mouthes. they can't even close them. halo 2 anniversary had the best elites imo
That was a dirty trick, Doc. My turn now.
Is that how Haley lost her arm? HALO 5 DIDNT TELL ME
After he went through all of this from Spartan Ops and books that he's the main antagonist, he then gets killed off in the first mission of Halo 5. What a waste!
Elites are not supposed to be big bulky and clumsy , that’s what brutes are for
They say three or four syllables in Songheili and it's entire sentences in English.
Why did he call Jul mdama joe mama???
Jul 'MDama Was a waste,he has a reason to fight against humans.
Yes ... 343i wasted the potential of: julmdama, the rookie, the didact, and then even cortana....
But not only that.... they have also forgotten many past charackters like rtas vaduum(first specops commander then shipmaster), lord hood, sgt stacker, Romeo, dutch, Mike,
Its just sad....
But i also was very dissapointed when chief lost cortana in halo 4, and his promise to johnson was never mentioned
Johnsons literally last words were: "dont let her go... dont let her ever go... send me out with a bang..."
So chief couldnt keep his promise he gave johnson before he died .... sad, but why 343 didnt mention it? Could have been so much more emotional
Jul's heavy armor is the reason he died
Fucking hell that explosion...........so unrealistic it wouldn’t start beeping fucking God
What happened to that AI behind Halsey?
Jul knew oni was playing both sides. Shit wasn't about artifacts
he sounds like batmetal
I’m wondering how the covenant are still rebelling after Jul’s death and another question I’m wondering if they have a new prophet
Woooooow I'm just now realizing that killing jull in the cutscene is the continuation of Spartan ops! 😳😳 Wtf why am I just now realizing this?? 🤯
All I see are 2 regular humans, kids with spartan augmentation, and brutes with energy swords.
Mdama would have been really cool, had he been the only Elite to look... well, like /that/
I hate the 4 and 5 Elite design, but I think it would have worked for Mdama. He's a better tactician than warrior, so the bulbous and less tactical armor would almost make sense.
He had so much potential! Why Brian?!
The last cutscene with Jul Mdama should have been a boss fight
At 13:00 minutes one of Tanaka was holding an AR but it shot like a battle rifle... Even sounded like it too...
Jul Mdama just another victim of secound tier villain syndrome!
Just like General Grievous in RotS. Aswell as Megatron in DotM.
3:40 Glassman lets slip that he does understand Sangheili
