I have had all these knives for at least a couple years - I got the 162 first almost four years ago. These are just my thoughts after using them regularly..
Thanks for the honest review. How do feel about push cuts and not being able to do those with the 162? I guess you technically could using the end of the handle. I’m curious because I want a new quality hook knife and I’m having trouble deciding.
This is a great question, and my answer is based probably on my technique- I don’t usually do push cuts with any knife except for the 162. The reason I only do push cuts with the 162 is because I find them awkward with the 164 or similar hook knives. With a 162 you can hold the knife as you normally would but just switch the direction of movement. So you are already in your most comfortable grip. They way I push is by putting my other thumb on that choked up piece of duct tape. It feels very natural and makes some really strong, elective leverage. At this point I switch from push to pull cuts without even thinking using a 162.
@@stonedape3285 I mean, look, you can make a spoon with a mora, but if you want to be good at it, there are better tools. But, yes, you can carve with a mora.
