- Granen - Jean Sibelius, Five Pieces for Piano (op. 75, no. V)
Outdoor Recording

This song hits hard. Sibelius' piano repertoire is full of hidden gems...! Also for those of you wathcing in 2023, Happy New Year! Don't forget to subscribe hehe 🎹🧘🏼
A masterpiece. Just recently discovered the work of Sibelius and i'm truly amazed by it's emotional grasp. Your execution of this is song is beautiful!
Many Thanks!! Sibelius is an amazing composer, hope to record more of his piano pieces soon!
The trees, the trees and the streams of water echoing on the piano keys, the moment, the play, life unrolling, waving, flowing. Beautiful emsemble of nature, musician, tunes and visuals. Thank you.
Thanks for the nice comment!!
Merci mille fois !!
what a beautiful performanca, mashallah 💙
Thank you so much!!
Thanks a lot for the nice comment! Used google translate to understand it :) It's quite a superb short piece and is unfortunately in the shadows of the Chopins, Liszt and Debussys of this world...! I admire Sibelius' music for his rustic and nature-like character !
The absolute most beautiful song in existence!
Awww, thanks a ton !! It's a wonderful piece indeed, one of my favorites by farrrrr!
@@FabienProxTrm I listen to this every morning man, of all the versions Ive heard yours is absolutely the best.
@@xaviercanedos Dude this is so kind! Go check out Spleen, you might like it! Much less known (pretty unknown in fact haha)!! I hope to be able to film a couple more pieces soon, including the Valse Triste, also from Sibelius :)
@@FabienProxTrm Have you put your 5 piece on apple music classical?
@@xaviercanedos I haven't! Should I?
The best interpretation of this composition I have ever heard. Preferable for my ear.
Hello, I’m ten years old. I'm playing this piece on the piano right now. I’m from Czech Republic. Beatiful piece❤🎉
Thanks a ton!! Have fun working on this gorgeous piece, and have a look at the rest of the op 75 :) ! Bjorken and Aspen are quite fun to play and not that hard!!
@@FabienProxTrm Thank you very very much and sorry for the late comment... Thank you for your quick reply you are an excellent piano player❤️🎹❤️
What is this song... It feels like im happy but longing for something/someone...like I could smile and cry then and those melancholic feels that stil tugging my heart.
I think it represents a very clear pattern we all go through when we "experience something astonishingly beautiful". There's obviously the "before phase", where we all feel a little bit alone and sad, but kind of happy, just as you said! And then comes the excitement (the middle arpeggio part), where things flow and new, where you discover, you experiment, you fall in love, etc... And after all that excitement, things fade, wither and die...
Sibelius lived in a country with four seasons, just like me (I'm Canadian)! This piece could very well be a metaphor for the four seasons. Opening is Winter/Spring, Middle part is Summer, transition to the recap is Fall and the ending is Winter again. It could also be a metaphor for life, as we all experience deep and meaningful things in our adult years, and then we end up loosing people around us and one day die.
This piece is a strong one, and could be a metaphor for pretty much everything actually :P
I recently discovered the piano repertoire of Sibelius and I've fallen in love with it.
And to think...that music intellectuals advised us to disregard Sibelius's keyboard compositions.
Really?
This might be a bold assumption, but my guess is that the disregard towards that "kind" of repertoire (and other "niche repertoire" that we won't cover here haha) is due to a few factors, mainly not being German/european enough, being to short, not being Debussy or Ravel, and being snubbed for more than 100 years by those famous pianists we were all led to admire by our teachers. If you check Brahms' repertoire, there is hardly any pieces less than 10 minutes, except if you play excerpts (which is still considered "sacrilegious" today). But, check Poulenc's, Sibelius’, Satie’s Piano Works: they are filled with short pieces less than 2-3 minutes. And some of them are absolute gems.
It’s taken 100 years for those short pieces to finally start to get some attention, and, taking into consideration that the average attention span of people is decreasing dramatically since the 2000s (again, this is a social issue that I won’t go deep into here haha), those pieces will be featured more and more into concert programs… A good balance will have to be found with long and short pieces, but my guess is that short pieces will bring a whole new set of people into the classical music universe and longer pieces will please a more conservative audience. Personally, I’m excited for my professional years to come :)
Long answer but I think this is a dilemma a whole bunch of concert musicians are facing and not talking about much haha

Incredible. Why didn't UA-cam recommended me of this video earlier.
Good things take time and patience 😈 thanks man for the support!! Lots more coming!
this sounds beautiful! will you be uploading more performances to this channel?
Thank you so much! And Absolutely! There’s a music studio being built from scratch here, so expect new content in a couple of weeks 😊😊 !!
Roger that 😅 merci !!
c'est super beau !!
Merciii!!
This song reminds me a lot of the first chapter of the wind rises by Tatsuo Hori
Ahhhhhh! The influences of Classical Repertoire on Studio Ghibli's styles/music/ambiance is quite obvious... That movie is on my bucket list! Thanks for the reminder :)) and for the nice comment!!
It also somehow reminded me of the French musical Norte Dame prelude…love this piece!
The way I'm addicted to your version is not even funny.
Thanks! Went all in for this one, the interpretation comes right from the heart 💖
Lyrical, I am sure that someone has put words to it.
That would be an instant hit for sure!
Hey! I love your rendition of this song and was wondering if I could use it for a video I'm making about an organization (OChabitats) that protects nature and wildlife! (this is for a highschool project)
Just answered your mail :) !

There's no Spotify version yet, but you aren't the first to ask! I might have to put my music on spotify one day... :)
@@FabienProxTrm You certainly have to!!! People must listen to this!!!
Can you share more like these?
I'll try in the near future! Tight agenda right now haha! I assume you liked Granen :) !! In the meantime, you could check out Bjorken and especially Spleen, which are on my channel right now!
Tres beau morceau,

That recap hits hard, I agree !!
Huh.... What just happened here ?
